I sure would like to know the odds of ONLY going big pair under big pair HU and never being good with QQ/KK/JJ for the entirety of your poker career of a few hundred thousand hands!
Running well is more important than breathing in poker.
Belongs in probability thread, but here's your answer:
When you have any pair heads-up, the chance of opponent having a different specific pocket pair is 6/1225 or 1/204. So if you have QQ the chance of a opponent having a higher pocket pair is 12/1225 or 1/102, and if you have JJ the chance of opponent having a higher pocket pair is 18/1225 or 1/68. These numbers only apply when only two players are dealt in.
The 1225 comes from (50*49)/2 or C(50,2). The 6 is how many ways any specific pair can be made when all four cards are available.
