Hi Guys.

I would just like to find out if someone can help me. I wanted to close my account for 2 months and when i emailed them to close my account i said years. Now i didnt even know that i said years until i wanted to open my account again, which is roughly 75 days after i emailed them.

I explained to them i never meant years and i meant months, what do you guys think should i do? because they are holding me to 2 years. I know it is my fault that i said years but do yhou think i can convince them that i meant months and not years?

I know this is a bad situation for me

If its Pokerstars or Fulltilt then sorry bro, its never coming back... I did it for 1 year, and after three months I wanted to play again for WCOOP, and I pleaded with them, even trying to say my ex girlfriend made me do it when I was too drunk etc etc etc...
Not happening..

But the thing is it was honestly a typing error. Shouldnt they confirm something like this? ANd i really enjoy playing on stars, lots of traffic and i personally feel safe with them

Sounds like it's time to buy someone else's acct, use a friends acct, open another acct somehow, etc. You're ****ed otherwise. It's against TOS, you could possibly get money withheld if you get a big score, and so forth...but I am guessing you aren't that big of a winning player, so anyone you've played against in the past could care less. If you're a high stakes winning player, then you're screwed and shouldn't do it.

No, as it probably breaks their responsible gambling policy

Opening another account or playing on someones else name is a big No for me. Im sort of a honest guy. Isnt there a Pokerstars Rep around that i could state my case too? Or someone on the forum that can listen to my side and then we can take it from there?

Yes. Yes. But will make 0 difference. You asked for a 2 year lock. Thats what you have

you errantly typed year instead of month? a hard sell. if they let you come back, then the bans would be useless, because you can just say oops typo i meant to be banned for (some time that lets me play now instead of far from now). your odds of coming back on stars before the time they quoted you is exactly 0.

I will unfortunately have to wait the 2 year lockout. Its just over 2 months now so they could see that i never meant 2 years. I just think that they should have a way to confirm your self exclusion.

I read up on there self exclusion policy and it says that you have to confirm your self exclusion with your account password, which i think is fair. But in my case i emailed them and there was no confirming of anything. If they emailed me back and asked me if I am sure I want my account closed for 2 years i wouldve corrected this issue there and then I would not be in this predicament.

I still hope that some rep of Pokerstars can just look into this case for me.

Im 95% sure that you can play on FTP if you only emailed stars

not sure if i believe u OP, its a pretty simple click to exclude urself from stars for 2 months within the software. only for periods >6 months do they ask u to email them

also its pretty hard to mistake years for months. im guessing u have some remorse about the decision and r looking for any way back in. in that case, its good stars has this strict policy as its for people who lack self control

Yeah.

There's no chance you are getting back in before the two year date. I do have some sympathy as I am out until April 2016.

I can play on Full Tilt in December but not sure there's any point playing there.

Good, you'd also likely just upgrade yourself to a lifetime ban. Your details will be flagged so you'll be checked on stuff like IP and mac addresses. I'm glad you are honest but anyone else - just don't.

As for getting them to change their mind on this. Even if you convince them it was an error they can't reinstate you as the self exclusion provision is part of their IoM licence conditions. The whole point of self exclusion is to lock you out for the time requested.

There are some new rules for UK on "Time Outs" that become mandatory next month which oblige sites to let people suspend an account for a chosen period - that is slightly different to self exclusion and should be something you can just click on to select. That feature which is up to 6 months is the one you would have wanted so hopefully people in future will use that rather than self excluding.

We are yet to see how well it works in preventing this sort of confusion but the time out for say 24 hours is a good idea if say you are planning a night on the lash and might decide to gamble drunk when you get home, or on your mobile in the pub.

As an aside using self exclusion for any period will flag you with the site for extra monitoring in ters of social responsibiity, all those returning from SE are expected to be monitored for "responsible gambling" with help offered if they see signs of problems - using multiple cards, escalating stakes/losses etc etc

^ So OP self excluded himself from every poker site that exists for 2 years, but meant to exclude himself from them all for only 2 months?

If not then why does he need a new hobby?

I enjoy sng and tourneys. Ftp doesn't do it for me. 888 poker I don't trust that much, read something about there being a lot of bots on there. And all other sites don't really have enough traffic for me. That is basically the 3 sites that I know of. Can you recommend a good and trustworthy of each for me?
