Depends on the state for Small claims court. In some states the amount is 10k or more. Now the lawyer fees your probably right but maybe some states are different.

OP did you file any reports with the police or anything like that? The scammers are all over. I just sold some stuff and the buyer claims the box was empty. He paid by paypal so I'm probably going to get screwed there. I filed a report with the Internet Crime Complaint Center. Not sure what their stance is on your situation.

Nobody ever said it was 100% safe... Just the fact that there is a thread for it should not suggest that it is safe. I guess that would be similar to saying that because prostitutes put ads on Craigslist, one should assume they are legit and STD free so go ahead and do it w/o protection.
Only thing is, here one can easily perform due diligence and make better decisions.

Also, I promise there have been other forms of "restitution" many times throughout the history of poker and money scams. It wont be hard to find Eric, personally I would start charging interest on that and find him in vegas, by then the debt will be racked up high enough to hire someone to go beat him out of it.

Quick update: I am in contact with a Debt Collection lawyer and following his lead on how to proceed. After the bs Hambone4k has been pulling and his absolute lack of urgency/responsibility/dignity/nutsack I am going to give him the worst punishment possible.

Hambone's latest email (after I quoted Lock's email, and told him to sell his car to pay me):
"Can you just forward me the original e-mail? Thats all I'm asking to see. And I literally do have zero dollars and don't own a car. I'm not trying to be ****ty about the situation at all. If you would have sent me the original e-mail from lock weeks ago, I'd have been able to figure a lot more out. But if you think I'm going to alienate friends and people I know without any information directly from them that the play came from the same internet connection, that is absolutely not going to happen. I already have enough issues, so I absolutely do want to get this situation resolved as quickly as possible. I just hope you'll get me the information that I need as quickly as I can. Any e-mails you have from them would be great."

meh, i guess i still dont really understand why you cant send him the first email. yea, maybe he will use it to help his story, but it seems like you have already said what the email contained and he knows the idea of it anyways

Sounds like the situation is starting to hit him. Not enough to give you your money but from his tone he realizes he is in deep. I still don't get what the email will help him figure out more. There is only one resolution that is acceptable and that is repayment of your funds.

Does anyone know the outcome of that steroids case? I wonder if he is on probation?

It'll help him put together a terrible lie about how someone also hacked his IP address.

Hambone4k used his outstanding knowledge of computing to hack 2+2 and make this problem go away for a bit imo.

This probably has not been resolved but don't think it is right for this to just die.

Its east to say you got hacked when you get a xfer and donk it off expecting to have a quick win and ship the xfer right back withing a couple of hrs, Sounds like he failed at this and now doesn't want to man up on his BOA end.


I have had this happen to me twice in my short career for 8k and then for 3.5k plus 728$
