They arent responsible for your internet connection, so it tough cookies for you, unless for some reason they feel uber generous which is unlikely

I got refunded one time about 200$ and honestly I was having problems connecting to stars before the issue. Then suddenly lost connection for 30minutes and lost in most of my sngs.

While my internet worked perfectly to other areas..

Had a similar situation on Full Tilt after all these ridiculous updates.. had a couple 10+1s running doing great. then bam, locks up hard. internet working fine... go over to a friends house still cant get it going.. uber fail! emailed Tilt. still waiting for reply after almost two weeks. yanked all my money out because their recent lack of customer service. what the hell is going on with tilt anyways?

I don't know if you'll get any $$ refunded, gl with that, but...

If you regularly have a couple hundred (or more) invested at the tables in some kind of tourney format, it may well be worth your while to pay $10 a month to have a dial-up service as back up.

I did this when I was

A) playing a lot of tourneys, and

B) had a spotty connection with my regular service

I had to use it more than once.

Stars is actually pretty generous in this department. I'm not saying it will happen but it has happened before.

Yeah I need a backup for sure, first time I've lost connection for more than a minute or so. Would be nice to get the $$ back, no big deal if I dont, its not their fault. Not mine either though, guess if Stars dont reimburse me, I could call my ISP and tell them I need $176 lol

I was in about a $265.00 pot on Stars with the stone cold nuts on the river I had quads. Internet goes out while action was on me and I get disconnected and didn't connect back and time. Hand history showed that I timed out he min bet I folded.

I wrote Pokerstars and let them know..."I am not crying saying I had top pair and was calling him, I literally had quads and I get disconnected that is bs my internet worked fine."

They said out of good faith and a one-time thing only they refunded me the money I put into the pot.

When this happenned to me (disconnection from the server but internet connection fine), they also refunded the buy in for my $50 Sit and Go. So they seem pretty understanding if that's your first time.

Your ISP wont refund you either. If you read the actual TOS of an ISP company they don't gaurantee your service working 24/7. It sucks but nothing you can do.

I don't think Stars will refund you your buy ins but it would be nice if they did.

Similar situation with Full Tilt, waiting 16 days now for a reply. Gross.

I have a question along similar lines.
What would happen if say you were in the final 5 of a sunday major, say the million. You got a chip lead of 2:1 over 2nd place then bang your connection goes, you reconnect and your out in 5th. Would anyone try to claim money off your provider

I know i would

I may be wrong but don't most ISP's make you pay more if you are using your account for buisness? If you have just a normal account and tried to claim reimbursement for lost wages or whatever i'm sure they would laugh there way off of the phone.

This is why it's also a good idea for users to have a backup dial up account JIC for insurance.

I pay 8 a mth for NetZero Dial Up and when I had ComCast (which goes out a ton), and it's for sure saved and made me more money for when my connection goes donkdown.

You could probably get an amount knoocked off your monthly bill, prorated by the amount of time your service was out or the like, but no ISP provider is resposible for whatever you happen to be doing on the web.

Suppose:

If I'm trying to buy 10,000 shares of XYZ stock at $5 a share because I feel a longshot contract is about to be announced, but I get knocked off for the key period, do you think they should refund me $50,000 when the stock hits $10 an hour later after the news?

Better than a dial up backup is using your cell phone as a teathered modem. This would let you take your game with you on the road.
