Giving money to someone who has a gambling problem can result in a ban? Always learning more. He didn't get banned for having any kind of a gambling problem himself as far as poker goes.

Stars were clearly worried you could hit a big score with the gambling, so closed your account before you get the chance. I have had this with casinos before, I won £10k from a £200 deposit once, I lost back about £15k and my bets started getting big...boom account banned once they'd made not only their money back but a bit on top. Of course watching a few more bets (Monopoly Live) I would have hit a very very big one not much later on....all a bit too convenient for me, and I rage quit, gamstopped after being near suicidal at what they had done to me.

Life banned from Stars many years ago. I managed to reverse a life ban at FUll Tilt, lost about 25k and then they decided to chage their policy.....after I asked Stars why they can't also reverse my ban since Stars own (or owned at the time) Tilt.

Scummy companies. Most of them don't like people who it looks like they won't give up until they hit big. Look at the Bandit (slots player) he got about 40k in the hole in one session then they decide to close his account making sure he'll never get a chance to win anything back.

This opinion above that "Stars don't have to do business with you" is lower than ratholing/hit&running in my opinion....we don't tolerate that crap...why do you think the sites should get away with it.

Given that OP hasn't been on the forums since 10 months ago, when he created this thread, he may not catch your pearls of wisdom. But one "pearl" I have for you - there's some red flags in your post that make me wonder if you have a gambling problem. If so, you should get some help.

all this responsible gambling business does worry me. like what triggers it etc. I Have one site which I do over 90% of my poker on and remain consistently profitable without depositing I wont say which site but is not pokerstars.

I deposit little amounts on pokerstars since I only play there for their mtts and this takes a while to pay off or i am a fish to the standard there but beating my main site consistently.

other then increased playing activity recently i cannot see any potential red flags in my play or me specifically.

the idea that a site could just outright perm ban me for life without much of a discussion and their decision is final no questioning or appeal process seems a bit worrying to me.

I do have an anxiety disorder which might be why i always fear the worst when i read other peoples story, but stars going our decision is final every time no discussion no compromise seems a bit draconian like there should be an appeal process to catch mistakes etc.

I worry that if Bink a huge win that stars might refuse to pay out and confiscate the funds and no appeal process because i have heard this happened to others.

I worry about been banned due to responsible gaming policies from sites at any time. again my main site I have not deposited on for literally months and have no intention of depositing ever again. increased playing activity could trigger a flag though?

That does not happen in situations where an account is closed for responsible gambling reasons.

I'm having a similar problem with Stars. They've restricted my account and are not responding to my emails. I know it's due to the fact that I moved countries but I have sent them all the documents they need and it's not like I moved to a country where I'm poker is illegal or something.

It used to be that Stars support was amazing - now it's shocking.

I'm facing a similar case right now. I have set the deposit limits on myself not knowing that the monthly limits will be in effect for the whole month even if I cancel the deposit restrictions. So while the monthly limit was in effect I asked my friend to transfer money to my account several times. Then I tried to cancel my withdrawal once, but couldn't do it, because I had removed this option before and forgot, and asked the support if I could still cancel the withdrawal request. After that the withdrawal went under investigation, but finally after couple of days, it got approved. And then after a couple of weeks, I suddenly get the message in the Pokerstars client that my account got restricted pending a routine investigation. It's been 17-18 days since my account got restricted and I keep receiving the same standard replies to my e-mails wondering when I may expect the issue to be resolved. Similar to the author of the thread, I'm being kept in the dark. I am afraid now that my account will be permanently closed as well due to their views on responsible gaming. Sucks

So from Stars POV you set deposit limits to the account, hit that limit and then tried to circumvent those limits. This is like Gambling Problems Red Flag 101 to them. Are people really this dumb?

This. Its like being self banning yourself from a casino and walking in wearing a wig only for security to recognize you and kick you out and maybe penetrate you a little bit.
