That's a bit paranoid, no? I mean, if the site is going to share notes, why wouldn't they just give them all hand histories played by their most frequent opponents? Also, just because your notes are held locally on your machine, that doesn't mean they couldn't update a file on their servers with your notes, so put your tin foil hat back on and use an index card for notes.
OP, I updated my notes at least once a week. From the client, goto Help >> Open My Settings Folder and backup the notes file (if you can't find the directory folder manually).
