I accidently unplugged the power cable from my cpu while stars was running. When i turned back on and reloaded Stars, i noticed all of my notes were gone.
Had some emails back and forth with Tech support and they basically told me they are bye bye becuase of of a corrupted file or something around those lines.

Has anyone experinced anything like this before?? what have you done?
Kinda sucks cuz its a lot of notes that are gone and makes little sense that all of the sudden during one of the many accidental shut downs ive had , this one deletes all the files and cant be recovered unless i had backed them up.. Who backs up their notes.. wtf.

The files are held locally on your machine, if the file is corrupt then they are gone as pstars don't have a copy.

While most people don't specifically back up their notes, many people do back up their hard drives. If you have done this then they would have been recoverable.

I don't have any info that can help you.... but I can say it is reassuring that your files are held locally on your own computer not in the system. I always felt/ wondered if FTP pros could use mine and everyone else's notes to their advantage. Like what was stopping Phil Ivey from using every note ever made against his opponents? From what you and PS are saying your notes are your notes.

I make a backup of my notes file every now and then. In case you've not found the file, it's an XML file typically on your hard drive at C:\Pokerstars\notes.[YourScreenname].xml

That's a bit paranoid, no? I mean, if the site is going to share notes, why wouldn't they just give them all hand histories played by their most frequent opponents? Also, just because your notes are held locally on your machine, that doesn't mean they couldn't update a file on their servers with your notes, so put your tin foil hat back on and use an index card for notes.

OP, I updated my notes at least once a week. From the client, goto Help >> Open My Settings Folder and backup the notes file (if you can't find the directory folder manually).

Your note files are saved to your hard drive only when you close the client intentionally. If you lose connection or power, you lose your note files from the time you logged in that day. It's been that way for at least 3 years or more.

I emailed my notes to myself when I relocated, so that is a good place to keep a backup copy.

I just got a new hard drive because my old one was damaged.
I still have my old one, but I can`t find my playernotes.
I talked to a couple of people and they said that I had to login to my pokerstars account on my old hard drive and do something, but I can`t do that because of the damaged hard drive (have to download a new update, but can`t get it to work
