As a UK player why can't I log in?
I know the ROE hate us but we are European and we are part of the EU aren't we?

Well, the EU client have the same player pool as the .com client. So apart from it being tax-free for the Swedish and Finnish players there aren´t any changes, if i am not totally clueless.

Norway is not a member of EU, so probably not? I don't know how you guys tax poker winnings anyway.

This is true. Maltese winter was one of the coldest experiences of my life (and I've lived in Calgary which is pretty much exactly like Cool Runnings).

yeah. you login normally, you gotta click a checkbox, confirming the move to .eu. you confirm that you read tos, you click ok, new software download starts, you login again, you start playing. all points/moneys, settings, filters, playerpools are as they have always been. you would not even notice the difference if it wasn't for a few extraclicks.

The above should provide some clarification regarding taxation.

Con: Recreational players don't care about tax issues - they don't win! This is going to bring in way more pros than fish excitedly looking to dump money. This is probably very negative in terms of new players.

Pro: COMPETITION! Right now Party Poker, iPoker, etc have been able to rest on their laurels due to the tax situation. They knew pro players in many places in the EU had no option but to play at their site. Now that these players can go to Stars these companies are going to actually need to compete.
In Sweden tax is calculated for each gross winning if site is outside EU. NO deduction for lost buyins...or even the buyin for the tournament you win.

So this also affect recreational players from sweden.

I understand that. In fact I make a promise "on my honour and conscience" to the tax-authorities every year that my tax-report is correct.

What I don't understand is how the TV-ads in Sweden can promise "NOW TAX-FREE" ?

It will take at least 2½-3 years until this have any chance of being really tested in swedish taxation courts !!

now PROBABLY tax-free is more proper!!

can you plz comment on the choice of words in the TV-ads Steve ?

Saw the new Stars TV commercial today. It stated the site is now tax free. Great stuff. Hope it attracts some players. Only the Spaniards are worse players than the swedes in my humble opinion. Yes I am a swede.
