Also this may have to do with the legal attacks on pokerstars.com by the US

I mean pokerstars.eu would be a different company right and untouchable by those maniacs - right?

In Sweden for example you do not have to pay paxes on poker/lottery(ish) winnings if the company or w/e is based in europe, a lot of eu-sites are based on malta for example. So I really doubt it'd be the other way around. That would require some big changes that ain't coming this year or the next.

im not from any of the countries but f*** this is amazing for every online poker player. Lets hope this trend continues. Paying taxes off of poker winnings is just destroying the whole game. So few people are actually winning. Taxing them is death

I guess as a Norwegian i won´t have any benefits from this?, cause online poker isn´t officially legalized in Norway like it is in Sweden etc.

I am confused!

Will .com players make new accounts for .eu or will player accounts be usable on both "sides"?

I doubt that was the main reason. The main reason is tax legislation in some european countries (mostly Finland and Sweden), now winnings from PS will be taxfree, just like most euro sites have always been. Most finnish and swedish poker players have avoided playing on PS before for this very reason and online poker is very popular here, they'll get a lot of new customers with this change.

Also with tightening online gambling regulation in many EU countries, sites with EU licenses are less likely to be banned/blocked.

Excellent! Will you be offering some kind of fast tracks to VIP levels for players coming from other sites?

Thank you for doing this

Might be big improvement for tax reasons.

Steve, will it be possible to change to .eu and keep your current account/screenname/vip levels? So what will change in practice?

Okay, does this mean PokerStars will now be on equal footing with sites like Party Poker who are tax free across the EU.

I don't follow, Steve.

If players from France, Italy, Spain and such won't be able to play together on the .eu portal, then who will? What is the point of having a .eu portal and extending the "trust arrangement" made between PokerStars and France to the EU? What are the consequences?

Also, what is said trust arrangement? I'm a french player and I haven't heard of that. But I'm mostly surprised by the fact that despite having an .eu portal, not all the EU countries will be able to have a common pool? I fail to see the point really.

I don't get it. Why would it be tax free all of a sudden in a country where gambling winnings are taxed?? An EU site can't change an individual government's laws

Are we gonna need EU bank accounts to play or what?

Oh right didn't know that

But pretty sure it wouldn't last 5 minutes until they're finding a way to tax people again surely?

It has been taxfree to play on other sites like Partypoker etc. for over five years, so probably no.

Well the main thing is to get .fr .it .es on board, if we can manage that then we're gonna be talking like almost half a million online during peak hours or something nuts!! The pre BF average number of something like 200k will be the new OFF peak number Just hope the servers can handle it
