This is good news. Pokerstars software looks good, but previously I could not justify using it with the taxation. Also a step towards letting me play with the .it and .fr players hopfully

Also, as an European player that isn't subject to taxation atm, what would be the possible benefits to switching over to the .eu domain?

I think the main benefit for most players is that having an EU gaming license lends credibility and visibility to a poker site.

I can't say for sure yet but it could mean it's tax free for people who earlier had to pay tax of their winnings.
