It's an Irish/Scots phrase. In Gaelic folkloretradition there are numerous stories of humans who went off with, or visited the homes of, the Sidhe, the "fairies" of Gaelic tradition. These people would stay with the fairies for what seemed like only a few hours, but when they returned to the everyday world they would find that many years had passed. So anyone who is "away with the fairies" is definitely not available to you for practical help or sensible conversation.

Was playing just before the 24,850,000,000th hand and watching for the admin popup message announcing which table it would happen on and there wasn't one. Did I miss it or is there no popup messages for the milestone hands every 1 million hands leading up to the 25,000,000,000th hand.
If a milestone hits at your table, you'd have to be away with the fairies not to notice.
It was like that during the 10billion hand promotion. Since then, for both double pot milestones and world record week, it has been much harder to notice and more people have folded preflop.
