I have a big amount of $ I want to trade on Cake, about $1800. I've done player to player xfers and my account is validated with Cake. I've never transferred an amount this big though (I usually xfer $25).

I'd feel more comfortable splitting such a large transaction ito 2 -4 parts. Is Cake going to freak out when I do these big transfers one after the other?

I tried to buy 2 500's other day at walgreens and the guy refused. told me 1 card per day, wtf?

Using forum PMs ensures that you know who you are communicating with.

email, AIM and Skype are out there and used for trades.

However the scammers that lurk around often use these and even there own poker accounts to mimic legit, well trusted posters so you have to be careful.

With your email linked in your profile you could very easily be targetted.
Trust no one until you are sure, via PM here, that they are who they say they are.

Even though e-mail addresses are used for these transfers, recent traders in this thread are neglecting to find out and post the present screen names of trading partners.

In the interest of privacy we do not want to ask for the email addresses to be posted so please find out and post the other guys sn.

Before trading you should also be doing an internet and a 2+2 search on that name (and all sns for that matter) to ensure that there are no recent issues (incompleted trades, stakerolls, scams, etc.) with that name.

this is a silly thing to say. it's okay to try and get max value out of people by trying to buy their stuff at a really lowball offer, but if someone else tries to get max value out of their own money (with a high offer) then they're the dumb ones?

He also tried gettting me and did not want to do any post on here but just on skype I told him To send $50 first then I would send $110 and he was not down for it, you can ask lasthandbefore and we have trade nurmerious times with no problems and this dude was skyping me non stop for the the money for tme to send the whole amount I am not a fool, to bad I did not warn him that I know people at Lock and that if I did get got I would get my monye back right away and his IP and account would be banned very quickyly I am glad he got busted,

yea, he tried to get me too last nite. He insisted i send first tho he has far less history than me, and when i told him that i would send first if we started with $10 increments he got annoyed and said it would take too much time, i told him good luck with finding someone to send a 4 month old account $ first. He also offered 1:1 for a gdmp which was a huge red flag! Be careful friends!

This thread was created originally for "normal users" of those forums to transfer funds between each other when things became difficult with funding accounts. It was never and is not now intended to be the main reason for a newcomer to the forums to be here.

off topic, really sorry to hear this, I have done 5k+ trades something with this guy from 2011 into beginning of the year for what its worth. All went smooth.

Few quick Q's that I couldn't get a solid answer to by looking/searching through these threads:

(1) Is a 1:1 exchange more the norm for transfers <$200? I am going to be the one buying LockPoker money.

(2) Is there anything else I could do to make someone more comfortable with transferring with me considering how much of a lurker I am? This would be my first transfer and I am sure my post count/posts per day won't help any.


I appreciate any help in advance. I want to make this as smooth as possible so I am being as prepared as I can be

1. If you are buying poker $, you should be able to get some discount regardless of transfer size. Remember that trading with someone reputable and reliable > getting a good rate.

2. If you have little or no trade history, chances are you are going to have to send first or at least send 1st when trading in increments. That is why choosing reliable traders is so important when building your trade reputation.

It is good that you are asking these q's instead of diving head-first into the thread. Never feel rushed to trade with anyone, always research their trade history in thread and also check out some recent play (using sharkscope or ptr) to see if anything is fishy. GL and don't hesitate to ask more q's here or even pm an IP mod if you suspect something isn't right.

Edit: take a look at what some of the higher-volume traders are offering for an idea on rates. Also don't hesitate to ask for what you believe is fair.

Beware of this imo, i was talking to him and we was really anxious to get the trade done and gave me his WU info and as soon as I told him to send first I never heard anything back. This is the post he has posted since we pm'd I first pm'd him when I saw the earlier post. Before he was replying to me in less than 1min, havent heard anything since I gave my lock info.
