I requested a check for 5k on June 5th.

It arrived today, which is only a couple of mail days longer than it took before.

It is from a different processor, drawn from a different, smaller, U.S. bank. The check looks strange, but it isn't foreign.

I will be depositing the check this afternoon in the ATM. Will report back.

GOOD ? I wonder if they are having a hard time getting other processors to do business with them. I mean, I would not think many would want to run the risk, even if there overseas, prob dont want to make the US gov mad and maybe not be allowed to do business in the US, same reason many international banks might shy away from poker sites that do business in US, they just do not want the hassle.

I got one from a different processor but I've already bounced enough checks that I refuse to risk it, so I'm asking for them all to be cancelled and proceeding with wire and bank xfers from now on.

Not really so. If the check is NSF, we process it one way. If it is a forged check, we HAVE TO call the cops, file a report with them and send it on to insurance to claim it.

The stance is that YOU are responsible for a check YOU present to us for cashing. If it fails, we come after YOU. That is a rough guide but we much prefer to work it out with you where you come talk to us about sending letters to the person who gave you the check. Now, that said, if you won't cooperate we go after you in court since we don't know if the other party has given you a good replacement check or not.

I don't know about other places but we treat each check differently. That is why I am trying to determine whether this check is really forged or not. If it is forged, we HAVE To bring it to the authorities. If it is NSF, we have to go after the guy who made it payable to us.

Im having cashout problems on Poker Stars, but Im not concerned. I ordered 3 cashouts in the last 3 weeks, two have not arrived and the one that did caused me to get a call from my banker, that worries me.

May 31 - Requested echeck for $2500.00 as of June 15th, not here yet
June 03 - Requested paper check for $3800.00 - 06/15/09 not here yet
June 05 - Requested wire transfer for $5100.00 - Arrived June 12, 2009

I am sure my other $6300.00 will arrive soon and I will probably get a bonus of some sort from stars.

What concerns me is the call I received this morning from my banker who needed to report the source of the funds. Since I do report my winnings on my tax return, Im not worried about that, but I am worried my bank will block future wires in due to the source. Does anyone have a thought or opinion on this?

I would say it's for business on the Internet, or Internet services or something of that nature. Please wait for confirmation from those who know better though before taking my advice I would definitely not tell them it's from online gambling.

I think Im doing the same. Its not even that the checks are bouncing, its that I can't be 100% sure that a "the check is good" assurance before I deposit it is correct. I think it will be cleared up in the new batch of checks once they are completely off the bad processor, but I dont want to keep firing bad checks into my bank account.

Same processor, different company name on the check, different bank. Stars sent out a batch of emails Sunday saying they were bouncing and refunding money. I deposited mine earlier than the people who got refunded so I inquired with Stars whether my check had cleared. They told me they did an inquiry and my check had cleared and was fine.

Checked my account this morning, check was reversed. Emailed Stars around 11AM saying it bounced and sending in a screenshot of my account. Waiting to hear back.

Im confident it will get cleared up, but there's clearly an issue similar to e-checks where Stars knows checks not processed by date X are no good but cant be sure or are getting bad info about checks right before date X.

Just a pain in the ass since this is the second one that bounced and its at like the worst possible time for me personally. Probably will just wire transfer to be sure I can get money out by 6/30.

I agree. Refer to your internet business and blame it on the "foreign customer" who insists this is the only way he can pay you. In the future I would try to keep the wires below $5000. If they ask about the nature of the business you can make it about anything you know. (star wars collectibles, music, gay porn, whatever)

DO NOT MENTION POKER OR GAMBLING.

These people calling are generally not trying to catch you. They are trying to complete paperwork that they are required to do. Give them what they need and they can call the next person on their list.

God, every time I log on to this thread things are worse. I pretty much want to die. I'm still waiting on my 6/2 check, and God knows whether it'll be any good. I haven't gotten an email from Stars about it being bad, though.

One option is to cash the check at a branch of the bank that issued the check. Depending on bank or state, there is no fee, or only a $5 fee. In general it takes less than 10 minutes. Of course you need that particular bank to be accessible.

This way you find out immediately if the funds are accessible and if so, you get the cash with no wait.

I believe that people did this last week with their Wells Fargo checks and still got burnt.

My check from 6/10 is still pending. Anyone, preferably in the West LA area, want to trade PS money for cash?

I asked for a very specific update from Pokerstars since I have received 2 bounced checks and work for Wells Fargo. Their reply was less than satisfying...

Hello Daniel,

Thank you for your email.

I would be grateful if you would destroy the cheque that you have
received. Unfortunately, the cheque has been cancelled and the funds
placed back into your PokerStars account.

At present, we do not have any further updates on the situation. Although,
as mentioned below, we are aware that the provider's legal team and the
PPA are working on the matter.

If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact
us.

Best regards

Andrew

Yeah, bounced 4 checks to my one bank. Fortunately I warned them in advance every time, so I'm hoping they will be okay with that.
