Well it happened to me too.

I cashed a $4200 check at my local casino who has always done it in the past for me. They just called me and said the check said "return to sender".

Must mean that it isn't where we are cashing it that is denying it, it must be the bank where it originiated.

Still awaiting a response from Stars.

I think I'm gonna be sick.

Maybe for writing a bad check, but not for cashing one. Besides, all of these are "return to sender" and not NSF checks. The problem, though, is now your bank is possibly going to make you wait longer for your checks to clear since you've had an incident.

After asking a lot of questions and talking to customer service reps today, I was told over the phone by Wells Fargo customer support that the source account for my PokerStars check (that they wouldn't deposit and are returning) was frozen because of a pending legal issue. They said there was a "lien" on the source account.

Here is my response from Stars that I got about 4 hours after emailing support:

Hello Patrick,

Thank you for your email.

We have initiated an investigation with our processors on this issue. We
will inform you accordingly as soon as we hear back from them. This process
may take a few business days, so I thank you in advance for your patience
while this is looked into.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused and rest assured
that this is not a common problem, and hundreds of checks are deposited by
our players every day.

In the meantime please do not hesitate to contact us if you require any
further assistance.

Best Regards,

David S

from what ive asked around about it looks like UB uses the same processor as stars and they actually informed there players NOT to cash the checks and get screwed like I did...stars informed me that they are working on the problem....WHAT? another site already refunded there players and actually gave them a bonus and you guys are still looking into figuring out what happened...seems un-organized on there part and something needs to be done asap....Im out the money on 2 bank checks that I deposited to my account last week...plus the embarassment of depositing a bad check is bad enough...

i'm hoping he just didn't read the e-mail too well and just assumed the post i was quoting was my plight, instead of giving a response that i assume means my check won't clear but here was my e-mail:

today i received my cashout and noticed it was from a different
processor...didn't think much of it and deposited it at an atm machine.
when i got home i read this thread on 2+2

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/28...-sender-check-
bounced-wtf-501295/#post11056537

specifically this post (#45 in the thread):

"My check from 5/24 (cashed 6/1) hasnt cleared yet which is unusual,
trying to find out about it now, but just another data point to try and
nail down the date when checks started having problems.

EDIT: Yup bank just said its getting stamped as returned, so definitely
didnt clear."

this is incredibly important as this represents money i have to pay bills
with. is this check going to be returned?

response:

Your email was confusing, I wouldnt take anything from the response either way. PM me if you want to know if it was the same processor that people are having issues with (dont post processors in public)

WITHOUT naming banks or processors, has anyone had a check bounce from the processor in question that was NOT drawn on an account from a big national bank but rather from an account at a local bank? Or is it just the big national bank account checks that are bouncing?

I thought UIGEA only was suppose to block transfers from me to "gambling" sites, not transfers from "gambling sites" back to me. Is this true?

If yes, why the problem depositing checks?

Well regardless of what the law technically says there is a common misconception that online gambling is illegal and banks don't want to be associated with it. Also we don't really know exactly what happened with the check processor so it's all speculation at this point.

Something's wrong with the company that process them it seems. We should know a little more soon.

For it to be UIEGA, every single bank must have decided to implement the rules half a year early on the same day.
