Anytime the DoJ has frozen money like this in the past (like Neteller, for instance), they've issued a press release on their website. Yet we see nothing there now.

If it is indeed government intervention, you can be rest assured that the PPA would file a class action lawsuit under the condition that player withdrawals are specifically exempted in the UIGEA regulations AND there are no federal laws which make offering online poker illegal in the first place.
A question for you. Under what circumstance do you see the PPA litigating this case?

I almost hope that they do to set a precedent for when this inevitably happens in the future.

So is there a possibility that online sites shut down and keep all our monies?

So is the best totally safe way to manage your money and prevent any problems method:

1. Don't cash out until you have a big enough bankroll to qualify for a wire transfer, and
2. make your deposits via wire transfer (is this possible) or Western Union correct?

Any other rock solid approaches? What about click to pay or whoever it is over on FT?

Hey guys/gals!

I'm stuck in this one as well.

I receive an e-mail stating one of the checks sent to me will bounce if I try to cash it. I've had it about a week and hadn't try to cash it yet. I'm not sure if thats good or bad? lol If I had tried earlier maybe it would have cleared, or maybe it would have bounced and I would have had to pay my bank a NSF fee for depositing a bogus check.

So I e-mail ps support asking them simply to credit the amount of the check back to my account. 5 e-mails and 8 hours and not a single response.

Only generic responses from support saying they have forwarded it to the proper department.

Soooooooooo,

I have a bogus check which I can't cash.. and they are refusing to even credit me back the funds so I can try to withdraw again with a different processor or atleast put the funds back into action.

Needless to say I'm kinda bummed, and scared. Processor screwed up? Ok.. I actually don't have a big issue with that.

But now refusing to even give me the funds back?

Something fishy going on here....

GL to all involved.

Dear xxxx,

We were recently informed by one of our check providers that their bank
account has been frozen. As a result, the following check cannot be
cashed or deposited at this time:

Transaction ID: 242662755
Amount: "$4,444.00"
Mailed date: "May12, 2009"

We are in communication with the provider to establish the exact
circumstances, and find an immediate solution. We appreciate your
patience in the meantime and will provide a further update by end of day
Monday.

Please accept our sincerest apologies for any disruption this has caused
you.

Best Regards,

Eduardo

I ordered 2 checks after this one. Anyone know why they didn't mention the other ones and are talking about one that I ordered more than 3 weeks ago???

Probably because only one processor is having the problem. Your subsequent checks are likely from processors that are O.K.

Except that gambling911 said it was Andrew Cuomo's doing, not the DOJ.

However, there is nothing on the NYS Attorney General press release page about it, and judging from the number of press releases, it seems that all Cuomo has to do it wipe his ass and they'll announce it to the media.

in this situation, ALWAYS go to an unfamiliar teller or branch and cash it as if you were a non-customer of the bank. if the teller asks you if you have an account here, say no, i just want to cash it. in that case, it is taken from ABC's account, with no recourse held on your account.

Similar thing happened to me. They mentioned the earliest check in the email, but I had two more recent ones with the same processor info and another one I hadn't received in mail. I emailed, and it looks like I have four checks affected even though their respons said it was only 3, and the "date requested" mentioned in the email reponse for two of the checks are different from the date indicated in cashier history.

Meh, it doesn't matter who the processor is.

The bottom line is that ps has stolen from numerous players. We have no valid check to cash, and no funds returned to our accounts.

Maybe they're not raking enough, now they're on to straight jacking people.

They changed their original press release to the US attorneys office, which doesnt exactly help their credibility

PM processor, please.

Les
les,

i hope it all works out for you.

IF you don't lose your job, i seriously think you should reconsider cashing pokerchecks through the drawer. some employers don't understand that poker is not just for degenerates.

if you cashed a check through work from a friend and it bounced, you would look bad. if you cash a check from a pokersite and it bounces, you could look horrible.

Please... wow, some of you guys. They haven't stolen any money, but you do make a valid visual: casual players fly off the handle over little things and none of this can look good.
