Chuck sends his apology for not being in the weekly rake race tournament.

On May 8th his youngest son was found dead of a drug overdose at 32 yrs old. As you can imagine he is quite devastated over this. He will be back in Poker form as soon as he deals with this tragic loss.

His son was working here in CR with him for the past year and 1/2 as Chuck was trying to teach him the business. He went home to Tennessee for a while and died there.

There is a memorial on youtube that Chuck put together if you care to watch it. http://youtu.be/axTnzPyR5bI

Gio will be back addressing issues for you today.

You make a very good point. Unfortunately, I am one who is unlikely to even look at the SNG events. I have played a lot of SNG's in the last year but it generally takes a special promotion for me to consider it seriously, even though it is the logical place to look for action when action is so hard to find.
I especially recommend the $3 BEAT THE BOSS 2 player sng; a win there will qualify you for the $500 Beat the Staff playoff, which needs 30 more (of 50 required) players to run. I just signed up for the $2 holdem sng for 4 players.

I'm glad you mentioned the sng or i would not have noticed that i was registered for the top 16 rake players playoff.

Of course it is likely that there will always be someone sitting out so it is something that has to be fixed of course. I should not be surprised since it is the first time they have tried to run an event structured that way. I got a prompt email response saying they are deciding what to do with the $100 winner take all prize. I suppose they are waiting for Chuck to come back.

I was one of only two live players to make it to the second round. I am confident that Chuck will come up with something fair. I try to be patient but it is hard to do when I get booted from an event just one heads up match away from $100, so I hope they do not take very long figuring it out.
I see under the sng tab that there is now an 8 player playoff from April for the $100. I am glad this got some attention but i still have questions.

Only Skunkybud (great name btw) and I are listed. However there is no date for it to run. How will it run with only 2 live players advancing when they tried to run it the first time? Who will the other 6 players be? Naturally I would prefer to just see a playoff between only the 2 advancing players since we were among the only 3 players who bothered to show up. Would it hurt to send the 2 of us an email letting us know an event has been posted, especially since I sent an email inquiring about it? Will there still be an event for the top 16 rakers in May?

Wouldn't they be more likely to get more players if they would list it on May 1 so that the qualifying players are more likely to know about it to show up? Wouldn't it also help to list the qualifiers in this forum on the first of the month. Are you listening Geo?

have they fixed the glitch that kept it from running past the first round? I wouldn't mind if they just gave us $50 each. heck, i would take $30 because I hear that skunkybud has a very pungent odor. JK dude.

Again, i have to agree with you Indy. I think that they should let us play heads up for it, but im perfectly ok with the split lol.

Very sad to hear of your tragic loss, Chuck. I am a father of three myself.

Until I saw this I had no idea there was any play through requirement for freeroll money. I had to go back and read the agreement. So now I have
a small BR that I really can't do anything with. This is something else that needs to be mentioned at the freeroll lobbies. "ANY MONEY WON in this game must be played through before it is allowed to cash out." Is this money transferable to another player without play through?

I don't disagree with this policy btw. It is still a great way for players to try out the software and pick up a few bucks to play on.

Freerolls with miniscule amounts of prize money are great ways to get new players to try the software. It costs Chuck less than $200 per week. The problem is that not enough people are trying it. The question that needs answering is, "Why not?" I only signed up last year after losing the option to play on PS and FTP. I didn't care for the Cake software/lobby enough to ever think of depositing. I like the changes so far but the new software still has too many glitches and features that need attention. It is kind of the chicken/egg scenario. Does PPN need more players and rake coming in to justify making the software better or does the software need to be better for players to justify coming to play? Unfortunately, the only answer that works for the players is the software has to run exceedingly well.

Hopefully, you are correct but don't be surprised at what the DOJ feels it has jurisdiction over. I felt they should not have been able to control a website run by a company in a different country as I thought domain names were outside the bounds of their reach. They could ask a host or even get a court order to compel the host to stop doing business with the company but actually taking it over just seemed insane to me.

Had the domain registration agency not been US based this might not have happened.

Re: *** Official Poker Pros Network Support and Promotions Thread ***

Did Gio not get the word that the forum is up and running again? he hasn't posted since april 26. Does nothing get done when the boss is not around?

This site is great on innovative big ideas but awful procratinators on follow through. Why must they always wait until hours before the event to post it? Whatever happened to the weekly $50 freeroll for the top 25 rakers of the week? Are they hoping no one noticed? The rankings for that event on the leaderboard page has not changed in weeks. Obviously it has not updated with any regularity, if at all. I only played this event once. Admittedly, i haven't been looking lately and might have missed the event, but i would not be surprised if that "weekly" event has only run once. I have been there every wednesday night as far as I know. And how would i know if i do not find the event before it starts and leave the window open?

That brings me to the most significant glitch for PPN, which has existed for the several months that i have been playing and which i have complained about on this forum a number of times. If you do not find the event, open the tournament information window and LEAVE IT OPEN UNTIL THE EVENT STARTS you will not be automatically taken to the tournament table.

This is the ultimate annoyance to anyone who has ever missed an event because of this glitch. I have not noticed any changes or fixes to the software for months. I have previously questioned the competency of their programmer, now I wonder if they even have one.

I have been rooting for Chuck's success with PPN all along and I genuinely sympathize for his personal loss. There has not been much indication of any pick up in the player base that I can see. Surely he has lost a lot of money on this network and there is no reason to believe he could turn a profit anytime soon. I would certainly understand if his heart is not in to do what has to be done to make it work.

They have done a stand up job of treating their loyal players fairly, like extending the loyalty bonus and paying out last week when chuck understandably was not able to play the heads up matches. I hope they do the same thing this week (I am going to wait a few days to see if they pay it before complaining to email support). Email support is reasonably responsive and competent. The freerolls are great and the leaderboard events show promise.

But the software is pathetically remit with glithes which they seem to be unable or unwilling to fix. they don't have the software to make bonus payment automatic - no problem, how hard can it be to manually enter bonuses when there are so few players? It has been weeks since my reload bonus was supposed to be in effect but none of the incremental payments have been made. I don't know if anyone is on the rakeback program (only way i know to get it is to make a $500 deposit) but I suspect that it would be a nightmare trying to get it paid.

It would be great if, 3 months from now, i have to eat my words for making this sad and dire prediction, but i expect that within that time the whole PPN project will be dead or in mothballs the way things are going. This network is headed for a historic failure.

Skunkybug was nice enough to stop by the omaha fixed limit table where i was sitting by myself, as usual, to let me know a sng i signed up for had started. As far as I know it has been days since i signed up for that $2 sng. Well of course i didn't have the tournament window open and I didn't see bud's info until it was too late. The two bucks is no big deal but i was probably watering the plants or watching tv with the old lady or something else really boring when it started so i'm sorry i missed out on some fun.

So the moral of the story is, don't sign up for a sng unless you are sure you will remember to unregister when u give up on it. Is that really the message you guys at the network want to send?

Hi gang, I am back and I want to deliver a message from Chuck Kidd the CEO. He really appreciates your warm thoughts about Matthew and he is doing his best right now to deal with this loss. Matthew was very special to all of us here as we also came to know him as he worked by Chuck's side for the last year. This will not be easy for Chuck as this was his youngest son and he had great hopes for his recovery from drug addiction that had plagued him for over half his life. Chuck was and is a great Dad to have. He never once gave up on his son.

With that said let me tell you now that he is in this poker network for the long haul. So don't even begin to think that he will pull the plug anytime soon. If you believe that he will it's because you just don't know the man. He is a Viet Nam Vet, Marine Corp and he don't know the word quit.

The issue of the auto-seating for tournament has been fixed and is in the next update.

All bonuses are being credited in the next few days and rest assured you will never be cheated here of something you are due. Again if you think that is going to happen you don't know Chuck.

We have started a new Bonus. BONUS CODE: FREE5 gets all 1st time registrations a free $5.00 to play with. This is good until June 1st. PLEASE get your friends to join PPN and get their free $5.00. This will help us all get more action at the tables. Post this info everywhere you can.

I will review the last few posts today and try to address the issues found there.

Happy Poker,

Gio

Hi Gio,
I just signed up for PPN using the FREE5 bonus code, but wasn't credited the $5.00...
Is this something that has to be done manually, or should it have happened automatically?
In either case, any help you can provide would be appreciated.
