Tonight was my first night back playing the $10 freeroll and the $25 Guaranteed.

I had shut the PPN client down when the Guaranteed started, trying to do an immediate add-on because it wouldn't let me on startup. When I got back in it was my turn on the freeroll. As you can see in the right hand table I had no cards.

I was unable to do an immediate add-on at the start of the game. I think I saw at least one other player allowed to though. Possibly ItsNotMe.

Late in the Guaranteed game we were down to 7 players. I had KK. Skunkybud opened with a raise, Maudieeee smooth called, I 3-bet. Skunkybud folded, Maudieeee called.

Flop was 6h, 9h, 7h I think. I shoved. Maudieeee called with Ah-Kh for the nut flush. I was covered.

Turn was 8h, and river was 10h. I kept staring at it trying to make sure I was reading a straight flush on the board.

The pot was pushed to Maudieeee who said the client called it a royal flush.

Skunkybud said he thought he saw a straight flush on the board also.

I did not get a screenshot unfortunately and the hand history is unavailable at this time. Why is there not a hand history saved to my computer as there are at other sites?

I did email support. In my email I think I said it was down to 6 players but I see I finished 7th so that is where we were. Hopefully, they can figure that out. I also said I would like my money refunded if I am correct on what that hand was. It wasn't a great amount but it is the principle.

This is one of the reasons it would be nice to have the ability to pause the chat box. I wasn't able to review it to see what it showed about the hand. because of the constant scrolling.

Support has researched the issue and determined that the game client failed to read a straight flush on the board, which should have resulted in a split pot. The developer is extremely apologetic and the issue will be given very high priority by the developer. $Your entry fee and rebuys/addons are being refunded to you account. Thank you for being so attentive to the hand and for helping us refine our software.

These other issues you raised have reported and are being worked on, namely: The game window not showing your cards when the game commences before you return to the table; inability by some players to rebuy sometimes without restarting the game client; inability to access game history except through the link at the game window; and, inability to pause the chat box so you can scroll up.

THANK YOU Gio and Customer Support!! I got an email back giving the details of what happened although much of it I am unable to interpret. The information below does not show the board cards in any form that makes sense to me but at least I know now I was reading it correctly. I appreciate the fast responses and the refund.

Malcolm,

Thank you for contacting PPN support. With all the information you provided we were able to have our tech department review the logs for that hand. The following is what took place on that hand:

Tonight I again lost all in on the last hand before the break. I didn't have to reboot but it only offered the add on. Every other site offers you a rebuy/double rebuy option plus the add on option. I would always choose the double rebuy plus add on, especially in a small tourney.

That was the last straw for me. I'm not going to play any more rebuys until they fix it.
well i did hold out for about 10 days. I played a rebuy yesterday and 2 today and had problems in each one. i had to reboot in each tourney, twice in one of them, to be able to rebuy. I was eleminated from 2 tourneys because of inability to rebuy. How long does it take to fix these things?

I sent you a PM on the screenshot.

The rebuy/addon issue really bugs me. If you go out, you have only about 20 seconds to get the rebuy done. The other night, I wanted to do an addon at the beginning of the game. I had to log off and close the PPN client to do this. However, when I lost my stack in one hand, I was able to rebuy and I may even have been able to do a second rebuy without logging out. Not sure on the second part. I had to log off again to do the addon at the break.

It is an annoyance and right now the only recommendation I have is to hold back a SB or BB or a combination so if you lose a big hand you still have some in reserve to keep you from getting booted. Basically sucks because I see several people go out in the early parts of the game that would probably put in a couple more dollars if they could rebuy.

i completely agree. since the rebuys are the only tournament action on the site other than freerolls you would think they would not let it go unfixed so long. everyone who plays them would have experienced a problem by now. That means every cash tourney player has been disappointed. that is not a good strategy for building a network.

As much as i enjoy the occassional rebuy for the lively play, i think they should replace them with a guaranteed $15 or $25 freezeout tourney. They could keep the appeal of a guarantee tourney and get rid of the problem.

The rebuy problem happened so often that i started trying the rebuy option immeadiately upon the start of the game. Sometimes it works, and others i have to restart the whole client to get it to work. Imo it seems not to work when i have had the client open for an extended time before the start of the tourney idle.
I also think that a gtd freezeout tourney would be better than the rebuys, but i understand with the limited player pool at the moment how it would be hard to make the gtd. We do have the scheduled tourneys with no gtd but it seems impossible to get 10 to start. Maybe something like 6 to start with a 30 min late reg might work.
Anybody have any ideas?

part of what makes any guarantee tourney enticing is the possibility of an overlay. we love to think we are getting something for nothing, even if it is just a few bucks.

a long period of time for late entries defeats that purpose. Even 30 minutes is too long imo. On the other hand, if you are in the freeroll and forget about the guarantee until the break then you end up being one minute late. 10 min late registration would be plenty.

I have no clue how hard it is to make that additional change from a programming point of view. Since there is no other ppn tourney with a late registration it might present a programming challenge. That's just asking for trouble.

late registration is a change that could be made after proper testing. The rebuy needs to be replaced immediately with something attractive to those who played the other guarantee tourneys. i would guess that the evening guarantees have been running about 70 to 80 percent of the time. i think we can get ten players at least that much with a simple freezeout guarantee.

Please, please tell me that's a typo and that the client side software is NOT actually responsible for determining winning hands and awarding pots. I don't think it actually needs to be said how important it is that awarding pots happen on the server side.

Software has been around for a YEAR, and it STILL can't determine when pots should be split due to the board playing?

I don't get the server side/client side thing. It sounds like nonsense to me and is far more technical than i ever want to know or care about.

What i do care about it results. having played tens of thousands of hands on PPN i am only aware of two instances where the hand result was not read correctly. if i thought there was more than a miniscule chance of a misread i wouldn't play there.

I am more concerned about the rebuy malfunction, which happens to me almost everytime i play it. Maybe it happens more to me than others because i usually have a lot of tables and lobbies open but i don't think there can be any excuse for it when it has been a pervasive problem for months.

I wouldn't sign up for a rebuy if i weren't prepared to pay several times the entry fee to come out of the break with several thousand chips. I'm thinking i should just treat it like an add on only tourney if i play at all. If every one did that there might actually be an overlay.

What they are discussing is where the actual action happens, the server side which is the PPN network, or the client side, which is the PPN software you downloaded and run each time you want to play. All the important stuff should happen on the server side and not be available for either manipulation or viewing until the correct time, on your computer. This prevents cheating possibilities.

I think this was really a very rare occurrence but still needs to be investigated to make a reasonable attempt at preventing it from happening again. So rare if fact that it was quick and easy for them to find the glitch and refund all the money I paid into the game.

The game function issues bother me much more as each time one happens I have to stop paying attention to my game and focus on what to do to accomplish a rebuy or an addon. Same thing with the chat box/HH. If we have to struggle to get information that should be readily available we lose time in the game.

I doubt that it happens to you any more than anyone else, we just happen to be more vocal about our issues. With more lobbies and tables open it probably just annoys you more because you have to close and open so much more. If the tables would restart automatically when you log back in it would help too. It definitely needs to be resolved.
