One time a guy went around handing out $5 bills for free and numerous people, surprised, thanked him kindly.

Then he approached one person, after about a 100 or so, who gave him a hard time and refused to take the $5, "I've never taken anything I didn't work for and EARN my entire life, and I'm not about to start!" He said.

Moral of the story: you can't please everyone.

LiveAce kicks ass.

---------

That said: we're not talking about a small business mom and pop company here recklessly shelling out cash prizes. You can bet there is a very definite business plan with projected income sources and means that has convinced business investors to not only back the site, but pay out money to sponsor a couple pros to play there and provide for advertising, software Dev, etc.

Software is on an Agile development and will only get better. The point is to release something workable and improve upon it, so you don't miss an immediate market.

They'd only need about 700 subscriptions to break even on cash prizes.

Considering the ridiculous amount of money Tagged and Zynga make on chip buys with ZERO hope of profit, just pure entertainment, chip sales could be lucrative.

LiveAce connected str8 to FB, as an app, and also app on mobile devices can bring in thousands and thousands of subscriptions and chip purchases with ease of sign up.

Then you get FB's equivalent of Google Adwords, merchandise sales (hats, shirts, etc.)....

I wouldn't worry. The best thing we can do to assure LiveAce success is promote it, tweet it and link to it.

I'm not a great player, but I've made about $50 just playing on the toilet, before bed, over lunch break, and am very happy.

Got a confirmation email on 8/28. Checked my mail for first time in a week today and the check was in there. Postmarked on 8/29 and check was dated 8/29. Cashed it w no problems at Walmart.

No Saturday and Sunday is always $1,000. The auction ending 9/8 9pm EST (Sunday) is $1,000.

What....

Since 1 person didn't win, all the $1000 was awarded right? I'm surprised someone actually bid 10LC/$1. Maybe someone only had 10LCs or something...

i would assume so. i really wonder how much money was awarded to bid rates under 50

What in the world happened to the LC/$ ratio in today's auction? HUGE drop!

I guess everyone is being waaaay too conservative with bid amounts? Also.. is there a forum already for auction strategy/ratio estimates or is that against T/C for the site?
09-08-2013 , 09:48 PM
WHAT THE ****!!! how is that even possible?

i am assuming that the people that accumulated most of the chips did not bid tonight or forgot and this is what happened so you had a bunch of smaller bids and since it was 1k prize pool. the low bid rate dropped to 10

This is not against our T&C at all - please feel free to talk strategy.

I can confirm that all the $ in the auction was awarded and we did have 60 winners out of 61 bidders.

Kind of feel like I messed up not bidding tonight.

Don't be results oriented, you were going with the trend. It's actually great that this happened. People, myself included, will become more greedy with the bids and it will hopefully keep the LC value up.

Also, this may tell us something about the success of LiveAce. Not enough people are signing up and paying for memberships. If they are attracting a lot of players, then the bid rate should keep going up until they increase the auction amount. The bid rates have started to level off and they haven't increased the auction amount. This tells me they are having a hard time increasing traffic and few people are paying for memberships. I know it's still a new site, so let's wait and see.

Just because the last $1 was won for 10lc's doesn't mean that the average, mean, or median bid price was anything out of the ordinary, it likely only shows that the total number of dollars bid on was low. The other 60 winners could have bid 1000lc's/$1 but only bid on around 16 each for a total of $999 and there just happened to be a dollar that went for 10lc's.

I think this is right. I do not understand why they are spending more on marketing. They are spending $4500 per week on auctions, plus personnel, server space, and the sunk costs of software and legal fees (probably huge to do a state-by-state analysis of sweepstakes rules).

2p2 is probably the worst marketing venue btw. We are probably not going to spend a lot to buy fun avatars and constant reloads.

Or ppl too busy with the first Sunday of football to bid.

I couldn't agree more. If they wanted to drive more traffic, getting a side ad on FB or poker tube would be ALOT better. Although i find it fun and interesting, most people who frequent 2p2 are either looking for specific information or are regular grinders and it would be impossible to make a real living grinding live ace with the current payouts. I have considered investing in a membership with some of the free $$ but at this point I don't have enough confidence that the site will be around long enough to make that worth while in the long run (building up a larger LC br).

Side question: Is there any advantage to saving up L/C's (aside from playing in higher stakes, which never run) and bidding all at once? It seems like the general trend in a LC inflation (not taking into consideration the sunday rate) which means they would be losing a lot of value sitting in your account. Any regular players care to share have they have managed their LC BR thus far?
09-09-2013 , 11:49 PM
I bid everyday because of the inflation. Don't want to lose value in my LCs.

What's worked well for me is to bid abt .25 or .50 higher than the previous day's minimum.

I get consistent small winnings. Other guys are doing better, but hey, $10/day is a car payment, so you know, I'll afford an extra trip to Reno this year.

But yeah, don't quit your day job grinding liveace. It's basically submicrostakes.

Saving chips and bidding them on the weekend will net more money because of the extra $500. Yesterday was just a little different because everyone lowered their bid after looking at the min accepted on Sunday. You might have some value bidding today but Wed, Thurs, Fri auctions will most likely have higher bid rates than the weekend.

What time does top up reset? Topped up after midnight after I ran up a 2,5k roll and then donked it off. -_-
