I didn't want to quit my job as I already have a career going for 11 years where I get paid pretty good. When I'm out of a job it can be pretty hard to go back to the same level and explain people why I was out of the business for X years. Also I like the change, Poker can isolate you from the rest of the world but I do think I could do it full-time if I really made big bucks.
I started playing Poker as Semi-pro 1-1-2009. If I would make 500K+, sure I'll do it full-time for a couple of years. Now it's just a better salary but nothing huge so I rather do it 50/50 for the change and the idea I can still hit the lucky one-timer.
I'm getting SNE by playing 26 hours a week, I work 24 hours a week so it's pretty doable. When I worked full-time (which was 36 hours) I played 10 hours poker each week for sure, so I only had to add 4 hours a week and get to SNE. Other people need more, or way less hours a week to get to SNE or just forget about sleep. There are many ways to get to SNE ;-)
