If you have "LogMeIn" or "GoToMyPC" installed and active.... or any other form of remote access is enabled then you will get a message saying you aren't in New Jersey even if you are. If you are using a MAC, I will bet that you have "screen sharing" enabled and that is causing an issue. You can turn it off in system settings.
If you are close to a border, then I would suggest looking up your IP address details in Google. If the IP address you are on is saying NJ then you should be all good. It would also help if your neighbor's wifi connection was visible.
Hope this helps with your geolocation troubles.
FYI... right in the middle of this post I got kicked from my tournament for "not being in NJ" anymore. I closed the app and restarted it without a hitch... only problem is I had AQ suited on the drop.
the actual reasons for these messages are a little different than you expect...
The remote software bans don't give a false reading on your account as to location, they are banned so that 1. you cannot use one to ply from another state via a computer in NJ or 2. Someone else cannot play via your computer in this state. Typical VPN concerns you have to either disable or remove them. Doubtful there will ever be a change in this condition of play for the obvious reasons.
IP address is not the single criteria being used by any site here, one reason being so many false negatives as we cn tell, another being that its accuracy could be miles rather than feet. It is however one factor involved in the process.
For the overwhelming majority of sites here, possibly all, multiple Wi-Fi connections have to be visible on your computer, even if you are not connecting thru wifi. I've already posted various ways to check that and enable it.
