Most suburban sections of Jersey are extremely safe, like most suburban areas anywhere. Most urban areas, you should probably know where you're going and be a little cautious, like most urban areas anywhere. Use your head.

It's six total at the moment, although some sites will be operating multiple skins so there'll be more than enough options.

So we're a week away from the "soft" openning of online poker in NJ and there is basically 0 information about what sites will be up and not even a website with sign up information.

Anyone have any information that i'm not seeing?

I went to Borgatapoker.com to sign up for the site or get the latest info on it, but now the website isn't even working.

How difficult is it to create the website with basic information? that should be the easy part, compared to creating the actual gaming site...they could have done this months ago to get people excited and ready to go...

Poker Stars..any news on their progress or speculation as to which list and how soon they would get some license?

I was thinking about this as well. A mere weeks away and barely any info. I haven't really seen any ads or promotions. Its the opposite of how I thought things would be going. I thought sites would be going crazy promoting. Trying to be the biggest right out of the gate to try to capture the market.

They probably are not advertising on purpose to ensure a super soft opening to make sure everything works ok, I mean, that's the only thing I can think of. They are really messing up otherwise.

In the legislation thread your questions will be answered. Just check the NJ thread. Go back a page or two. A quick note is that some players say they are already testing the new sites. There is a schedule listed and, the informed say that Poker Stars is out for now.

i got a feeling pokerstars won't get in..there is something going on behind closed doors with them in regards to nj online poker..my opinion of course only..i could be WAY off base

wonder if the other casinos are the ones really trying to block em from coming on board..specially after the atlantic city club ordeal...

i'm looking for best promotions with decent traffic myself..depends on how i can get winnings off the site also

my guess would be the lack of info on this because the casinos are waiting on info from the agency over seeing all this..i mean these 2 links only just got released..

12 days to go and they are just now deciding these things..kinda hard to advertise what ur not sure is available yet would be my guess

Party Poker and Ultimate Poker Seem the "most" ready to me at this time so I would look for them to come strong out of the Gate.

Also, it's possible the Soft Launch could be delayed past Nov 26th if operators/regulators don't feel they are ready to handle real money transactions.

http://pokerfuse.com/news/law-and-re...r-tests-13-11/

A recent survey posed the following question: How familiar are you with New Jersey’s plan to launch legal, regulated online gambling and poker in November 2013?

On a five point scale 46.6% of people ticked the lowest score and said they were not very familiar with the plan. 21.7% ticked the top two scores. The highest scores came from respondents aged 45 to 64, with the lowest coming from the youngest 18-24 age group.

I wonder if (as someone posted previously), if they are intentionally keeping things low key till they see how things are going.

My father (who is 72 now) was beat up just a few years ago by a street gang of kids in Jersey City who were playing "knock out." He now has a metal plate in his head from the incident.

So yeah, I was trolling before, but New Jersey isn't Salt Lake City. It's violent. That's no lie.
What was the race of the gang who attacked your father?

If I am understanding this correctly all you need is a New Jersey connection and a cell phone to ping your location being in NJ? Like the Nevade sites do...or do you actually have to be a resident of NJ

No, you don't need to be a resident. You just need to be located in NJ when your playing for real money.

I believe the software 1st checks your IP address when you log in, and then intermittently checks your cell phone location to confirm it's still w/in state boundaries.

I was born in and have stayed in various places in NJ for extended periods of time. I went on trip strictly to gamble pool in NJ.
IDK why people are acting like NJ is so different from every other state in the USA. You have really bad areas, decent areas, and really good areas. I promise you there are places in NJ that you'd feel perfectly safe walking around by yourself at night - and I promise you that there is at least a few really messed up areas in whatever state you're in that you'd not want to stop at a traffic light in. NJ may have a higher bad:good ratio than some states, and definitely has more notoriously bad areas - but their good communities just aren't popular so they don't get talked about as much as say the good areas in Miami (MIA is a ****hole for the most part and has a lot of really bad/violent areas)

If Stars gets operations up in NJ I'll most definitely visit and probably setup over there. The thought of a PS client in NJ that could share player pools with other states in the near future is really exciting.
From what I know of Party I wouldn't give them a cent. As for the other rooms I'll probably wait it out and see how things go.

can't frigin wait! I'm gonna try out the phase in periods at UB then see how the traffic goes for the rest..no doubt if stars ever gets approved that's where it will be at...

Does anyone know how the taxes are going to be handled? Federal and State? Sorry if I missed a thread detailing this. Explicitly what constitutes a session for tax purposes?

Perhaps I've been running good, but what the poster is suggesting is false and ridiculous. Your odds are excellent in the bad areas. In the good areas, which is 99% of the state, there is simply as little issue with crime or thugs as any other area of the USA.

So the possible future poker capitol is fine. You'll love it here.

I think you are way too positive saying 99% of jersey is safe..
would you walk around 99% of nyc at night and feel safe.

would you walk 2 or 3 blocks from some casinos in AC at night in those slummy areas and feel safe...
if so, I think you are 99% crazy...

I have been to AC dozens of times and I
would NEVER EVER walk around those areas at night

the logical statement is that most of jersey is like EVERY big city in the country
there are huge areas where you are simply not safe

Do some of you people only read this thread?? Go to this thread. There is a schedule listed of the soft opening at one of the sites. Another poster has a promotion posted for one of the casinos. And, they are not arguing whether N J is safe or not.

I am very excited for the launch of online poker in the great state of New Jersey. I will be playing full time here and wouldn't mind forming a sort of "poker crew" to discuss hands, grind with, whatever. Most of my friends here are very casual players and certainly will not be grinding like I plan to.
I have been a live regular in Atlantic City for years and Pennsylvania lately. I grinded in Southern California as well.

If anyone is interested send me a pm

New Jersey deposit methods will be the same as Nevada plus up to $500 in cash at 7-11s. Instant check limits are up to $5k. There will be only one location for cash to cage at the Taj.
