So neither August 2010 nor October 2008... but obviously I'm still using my card so I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens by the end of the current month.

Confusion 15 - Neteller 0
That's really weird if you're still able to use the card? Don't think anything will change when this month is over, since the numbers on the card are in month/year. Maybe the card actually is for 1 year, regardless of the year imprinted on the card. And I guess Neteller's support is as bad as Party's.

My card expired 10/08 and I am not able to use it anymore - So I guess the expiration date is 01-10-2008 - was also asked to send in some documents and I thought this was the reason that I could not withdraw to the card

Could have been nice with a notification about expiration - would have saved me for a lot of waiting time. hehe

Btw, how long did it take for you guys to receive the card from the order date? As far as I know it could take up to 21 working days!! Crap! :-)

My Neteller GlobeWallet MasterCard (hey, that's a name!) was due to expire this month, 10/08. I asked Neteller for a new one and they told me I have to cancel the current card first, since the option to apply for a new card wouldn't show up in their web site until the current card gets cancelled. A little weird IMO, but...

They sent me an email last week confirming the card was cancelled, so I could apply for a new one. To my surprise, the GlobeWallet card is no longer available at Neteller website. In its place Neteller has issued two completely new cards called Net+ cards, one virtual card and one prepaid card.

Principal differences are that the virtual card is instantaneous and the prepaid card charges directly to your Neteller account (no more withdrawal to card necessary), but also that fees, at least for europeans with the Neteller account in $, have grow significantly, specially for point of sale operations where a 2.95% fee will be charged (currency exchange) while with the older card no currency exchange fee was applied.

Yeah, wtf. Info isnt their business, thats for sure.
ATM withdrawal up from USD4 to 6, currency exchange 2,95% + a lame 3USD "dormancy fee" every month u dont use it.
Dunno if VIPs get a discount on the above, if not It's probably the end of using Neteller card for me, esp due to high FX fee. Assume they wont let me keep my old Firstpay Globe Wallet card, too bad because that was excellent. It's of course an improvement that you dont have to withdraw from your Neteller account to your card before using it, the rest is worse than before.

I still have my Globe wallet card which according to card expires august 2010. Yesterday I withdrew funds to it.

Does above mean Neteller will stop cooperating with globewallet? Then how to get money out of globe wallet if card is cancelled ad some people here suggest.

08/10 on any CC always mean august 2010. It is a worldwide standard for CC afaik.

I think that with this prepaid card Neteller has shot himself in the feet, at least with regards to european users. Exchange fees are way too high.

Maybe is time for Moneybookers to issue a prepaid card.

We're lucky our money is still valid in a site that charges a maximum of $0.70 per transaction. Don't ask for miracles.

I spoke with Neteller. They are going away from the Globe Wallet card. They now have the virtual card and the prepaid card which was mentioned earlier in the thread.

Currency rates are going up by about one percent and ATM fee is USD 6. That sucks. The prepaid card is always loaded by what is in your account which is nice.

Globe Wallet used to charge 0 (zip, zero, nada) when buying stuff at stores, supermarkets, internet places, etc. Does this still hold? (I mean, 0 + 1% = 0)

I was late to the party I guess. I ordered the old global card 2 weeks ago but I guess I won't be getting that now. The fees on this new card are insane and insure I won't be getting the prepaid card from neteller anymore. kinda sucks cause I'm going Japan next week for a month and woulda been nice to be able to use the old card with no exchange fees in stores.

I talked with them in the live chat and they told me that the fees are the same until the card expires.

Afaik, there always was a 2,9% currency exchange fee. Only buying stuff in the same currency as your card was free.

Still it makes me mad that they tell you about ordering a new card, without mentioning these changes. Can somebody explain the virtual card? And what's 'prepaid' about the new prepaid card if you don't need to load it.

I had the Neteller account in USD, GlobeWallet card in USD and bought many times in POS in Spain and Germany in EUR with no fee at all. They only applied the currency conversion of the day.

With the new cards it seems this is no longer so good

I was asking myself the same, doesn't it work as a normal debit card?

No, thats not true. I have the card/neteller in USD and buy/pay 90% of my stuff in EUR and never had any fee taken from the card.

E-mail support doesn't reply..
How do you know your card has been shipped? did they get the 15$ of activation from your account?

They send you an email with the subject "your card has been shipped". I received my GlobeWallet card 2 weeks ago so I think I will one of the fortunate souls who will be able to operate with the old card by one year more

And regarding to the new fees and rules, poeple have to protest in mass.

+1
set up time and date.
But I'm afraid that how it takes years to reach their on-line support now - without any protests going on ... it's time to search for a new wallet.

There's also a concern regarding clause 2.5 of the contract. Now, when you sign up for one of the new cards, you have to explicitly agree with clause 2.5, that says:

2.5. Neither the Depositors Compensation Scheme in the Isle of Man nor the Financial Services Compensation Scheme in the United Kingdom apply to Your Card, Your Virtual Card or to Your Account. No other compensation schemes exist to cover losses claimed in connection with Your Card or Your Virtual Card. This means that in the event that We become insolvent Your funds may become valueless and unusable and as a result You may lose Your money that is held on your Card or Virtual Card.

Sounds odd, doesn't it?

If you don't click on "I have read and agree with clause 2.5" you can not apply for a new card.

My understanding from talking to them is that you will pay almost 3% currency exchange for both ATM use and merchant use.

that's what the T&C say as well.

old: $1000 withdraw max : $4 fee (+ 1,5% currency exchange)
new: $300 withdraw max : $6 fee (+ 3 % currency exchange)

You paid $4 to get $1000 (250$ per $1 fee). No you'll pay $6 to get $300 ($50 per $1 fee).

Let alone the withdraw fee - that means the fee increased by 500% (5 times)!
