I have been lookin the features of Neteller Prepaid Card. It seems to have reasonable fees, very easy to use and a decent CS.
Anyone of you are using it? What is your opinion (if you have it)
Thanks in advance

lol reasonable charges.
Ł5 to make a cash withdrawal is pretty damn bad if you ask me.

The thing only lasts for one year and then expires - you then need to spend Ł5 on renewing it.

Still handy though

It's good if you use neteller in the first place. Just make sure that when you withdrawal money from the ATM to always take the max you can, that way you can save on the fees. If you use the card at a store or amazon or whatever there are no fees.

Not sure if the earlier poster has a card or just an opinion.

It's Ł2 for a cash withdrawal.

Free to use as a debit card.

I like mine.

Can you use it as a debit card with any amount that's in your Neteller account?

I was under the impression that you had to issue an instruction to "load" cash onto the card to make it available for use.

You first need to make a withdrawal from your neteller account to the prepaid card, just like any other type of neteller withdrawal. i.e. it's not actually a neteller card, it's called a Global Card.

You're nearly there. The current card brand is Globe Wallet. Last year the card was provided by Altair Financial (which was a better card tbh). As already mentioned, the card is valid for 12 months. When my Altair card expired, I was sent the new Globe Wallet card.

The fees are still the same (Ł2 for an ATM withdrawal, free to use for purchases).

The card is actually the cheapest way of getting your money out of Neteller (and also the fastest- less than 24 hours in most instances), with Neteller only charging 50p per withdrawal (the Ł2 ATM fee is charged by the card issuer, not Neteller).

The only thing with the current card is that, unlike the previous one, it is not a Chip & Pin card, which can cause problems in certain outlets who only accept C&P (which is the vast majority of B&M retailers in the UK, someone else will have to comment on C&P in the USA, Canada etc).

Oh, and I wasn't charged Ł5 for my new card as it suggests on Neteller.

WTF at all these people getting Ł2 withdrawal fees?

Mine was definately either Ł5 or $5 last time I used it.

Yes, the card arrives by normal mail, around 2-3 weeks after you order it.

And yes, definitely Ł2 ($4 or €3.75 etc depending on your country)...

neteller are a bunch of greedy bastards with their atm fees. send the money to a real bank with a real ATM card and enjoy. I estimate I lose 1% for every $1 in withdraw with my card. exchange rate fees INCLUDED, and yes these numbers are correct.

Like I said, Neteller don't charge the ATM fee, the card issuer does. Neteller are very good in offering a choice of withdrawal options, all of which have fees, so there's no grounds for criticising Neteller themselves.

Bump:

I'm unsure about the expiration date of the globewallet debit cc.

It says: valid thru 08/10

Does this mean valid thru august 2010 or october 2008. If it's October 08 will it still be working this month or would I need to get a new one?

08/10 should be August 2010? Ask live support they should know, it's an american-issued card and they're weird with their dates.

An update on this:

First I chatted with a First Pay representative and she told me 08/10 meant my card was expiring by the end of the current month, and that I should contact Neteller to renew it.
Then I e-mailed Neteller's VIP host and, obviously, I got the following:

"Dear Mr. XXXXXXX,

Thank you for your email.

Is your card show expiry 08/10 your card should expire August 2010.

Kind Regards"

I sent them another e-mail telling them all of this and I'm still waiting for their kind reply.

The prepaid card is great. The Mastercard exchange rates (to AUD) are excellent, and the 2% currency commission is completely standard. Neteller gets $1 when you load the card, and that's it. The cash withdrawal fee is $4, but I wouldn't take cash out except for large amounts - just buy stuff with it.

100% sure it's August 2010 in your case, mine says 11/08 and I've received an e-mail about renewing the card. Also, they have vip hosts at neteller? What are the criteria/benefits?

I think you have to login to your account to order it.

^^ Yeah, after logging in its on the menu to the left. There's a button you press to apply.

Mine expired recently and I was asked to send a bunch of documentation to Neteller--scan of ID, utility bill etc. Is this standard now? (They didn't ask last year.)

its the best thing ever imo.

its a perfect way of cashing out money. its fast, easy and by getting it through an ATM it goes around your bank account and you got cash in hand

also, mine is valid until 2010 so the 12 month thing isnt true.

I'd like to think that too, but I've also received the following mail:

"Dear Mr. XXXXX XXXXXX,

I apologize for the confusion. Yes, your card expired with us on August. 31st, 2008. In order to apply for a new card you will first need to send in some documents."

So neither August 2010 nor October 2008... but obviously I'm still using my card so I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens by the end of the current month.
