I would be willing to bet I've had losing days way way worse than yours.
I don't run particularly well at all really.

The reason you run better live is probably partly due to a really small sample size (do you even have 100 hours worth of live play? That's only 3k hands which is almost nothing) and the fact that the games are easier and the competition worse in live games.

You not thinking you are a bad player doesn't really mean anything. Nobody thinks they are a bad player.
People who lose almost universally complain about how bad their luck is.
Almost every single one of these people who lose did not have particularly bad luck. They just don't play very well yet are completely oblivious to that and want to continue pointing to their supposedly horrible luck because they don't want to admit to themselves how much they suck.

It's fascinating really. The amount of denial some people go through in this stuff just blows me away and I almost wonder how it's possible for so many to be so stubborn about it.

i've just completed a thorough analysis of the provided hand histories, and i believe this is the evidence you've all been waiting for.

Just came in to see OP 100K hands over 4 years

Without loss of generality, the first card on the flop is a spade. Then there's a 12/51 chance the next card will be a spade. Given that the first two are spades, there's a 11/50 chance the third card will be a spade. So there should be a monochrome flop 12/51 * 11/50 = 5.18% of the time.

(This assumes that all hole cards are random. I'd conjecture that you're slightly more likely to see a flop when the players have suited cards, which complicates the calculation. But I don't know of a good way to adjust for that in the absence of any data.)

And I can confirm stars is straight-up rigged. I haven't won a hand there in months. Also, I think I would be a really good middle school math teacher.

the graff is incomplete. I've heard rumors of 5 heart boards even though I've never personally seen one

Against any one player, yes. But you weren't playing against any one player. You were playing against 3, and your equity against them was less than 50%. That means, um, you should win less than half the time. While you're prattling on about the three hearts, you fail to mention that no Ace came, a much more common way to lose. When I have a hand like KK against 3 opponents, I'm not real excited. Not because the sites are rigged against me, but because I'm likely <50% to win.

Do you play the same stakes? Do you realize the opposition online is crushing versus the opposition live at the same stakes?

Just came in and read the entirety of this epic, heart-tugging and often poignent thread. Over the last 10 pages, I have laughed, cried, and done a fair bit of soul searching.

I for one, hope OP never posts his 100k (OMG that's 68.5 hands/day!!!1!!) hands because it will bring this beautiful and timeless thread to an abrupt hault.

I will continue to check back in this thread whenever I have a huge winning day, a series of huge coolers, haven't played poker in a while, or just want to have a good cry.

Thank you TwoPlusTwo for producing such beautiful art.

You might actually stick around here long enough to look back on these posts one day and feel embarassed by them.

Who knows? Stranger things have happened (like losing to a OMG4FLUSH)

The worst 2 beats I can remember:

1) NLH tournament. Approaching bubble. I was 2nd CL in the tournament. CL was sat to my right. Folds to him in CO and he raises. I find AA on the BTN. I reraises and it folds back round to him. He calls. Flop is A82 rainbow. He checks. I bet half pot. He insta shoves. I call. He flips A2. He's drawing almost totally dead and the only thing that will save him is....

.... turn 2
.... river 2

2) Cash game. I raise 2 limpers from CO with QQ. BB calls, everyone else folds. Flop Q32. BB checks, I bet, BB raises half his stack. I set him in. He tanks for a while then calls. He has 77. Turn 7, river 7.

Both these hands were in live games.

Obviously rigged.

I could add another where I flop Jacks full on a board of KKJ and get all my money in against AT for the turn and river to come K and K. Once again live. SO OBVIOUSLY RIGGED. DO NOT PLAY LIVE GAMES.
