I mean that's just one example. I'd assume they might just as well try if someone is using emails and passwords for Paypal or something.
Anyone's card runners accounts hit - or has anyone had any breaches on any email, poker site, money transfer site? Anywhere?

To my knowledge everything has been isolated to moneybookers in this thread?

I don't have a security token.

We don't know if it is isolated to MB. MB might be the only site kind enough to inform us of failed login attempts.

Who has? I have a failed login attempt and no security token. With a 20+ mixed letter/number/character password that is unique to MB, I'm pretty sure it would be nearly impossible to compromise my account with only one failed attempt unless you were able to hack my computer or MB itself.

Right, the three people who have reported their MB accounts being compromised haven't mentioned any other sites being compromised. Could someone have attempted to access a bunch of other site accounts unsuccessfully? We'd have no idea.

But even if it is isolated to MB, that could mean nothing more than this particular scammer(s) has focused their efforts on that site because they find it an easy site on which to transfer and cash out.

Different hackers different password lists.

We won't be able to determine the source through this thread.

So I guess we should just all be very safe!

I've been getting failed login attempt notifications fairly regularly for the last few months. How do I find the source IP address?

I only play on Stars and rarely use Moneybookers - fewer than 10 transactions in last 6 months - all to/from Stars with the exception of two when I was checking out insuredplay.com.

Shimmy what else do you use with this email?

Have you ever signed up to a poker coaching website e.g. Cardrunners?

Keylogger, FUD RAT, etc brah.

Get failed login attempts on yahoo all the time, just automated russian/eastern european bots using dictionary attacks/brute force.

Mother****ers got another failed login 3 hours ago. I mean its no problem because I have diff passwords everywhere thats 16+ characters strong and randomized and I also have the security token (and also no money on right now) but its still really annoying knowing someone is trying to steal from you

I made a MB account a few years ago and i don't ever remember using it.
I got an email this morning about a failed login attempt.

I recently used this email address to access Holdem manager site and testing the tilt breaker software and ebay.

Is my email address comprised ? if so i will discard it.

This is all pretty bad and worrying.

I am concerned that there has been no correspondence by any website to any of their customers and where the hacker has secured this information from and additionally why nothing is being done right now about this.

It's a pretty disgusting scenario in the grand scheme of things and terrible customer service from a number of organizations/people.

The email address that I had registered for Moneybookers was the same as the one I use for 2+2. My password was different.

Is Skrill in any way investigating these multiple breaches? They would have alot more information then we do in regard to IP address commonalities, where the money was transferred to, or what accounts they were transferred to etc...

They obviously have to be aware of the rise in failed login attempts as well as multiple successful breaches. Are they investigating it themselves?

To my knowledge no - but please do not quote me on this - that is why it's imperative that someone does. Whether that is us or the police is up to you.

If you've had funds taken from you, I would think they would be one of the first entities that you would appeal to before a internet forum. They have a lot more accurate information than we do, not to mention a lot more effective resources. Keep us posted as this goes along. The perpetrators definitely need to be criminally prosecuted.

All last week I was on the phone to them everyday.

After they made me an unsatisfactory offer I opened this thread.

I rang moneybookers on Sunday as they have locked my account because it had this one failed login attempt.

They promised me a reply within 48 hours. I hadn't received one Wednesday so sent an email and still haven't had a reply.

Not impressed with them since rebranding at all.
