Totally wrong way to approach things.
Limiting amount of tables played, taking away p2p, reducing VIP rewards, maybe even changing up some game structures... all that isn't going to cause bad players to feel nearly as bad about things as banning winning players.
It stinks, because some really good things have actually been happening too. They made some nice structural changes for HUSNGs, they added a HUSNG leaderboard. I saw people starting to get excited about playing there and thinking about moving play over, but with these types of changes it has quickly turned to players not trusting Merge at all (and I'm not talking about $500 level grinders or anything like that).

I think that as winning players, we can all agree that booting other winning players is terrible for us. I also think that opting players out of VIP and limiting the number of tables they can play was an adequate (if unfortunate) solution, but alas, Jazette management did not
One thing we all need to do is face the facts. This industry is changing and more and more anti-reg measures are coming out. It's a reaction to a shrinking rather than a growing industry... a maturing industry rather than a booming one.
We all had it good for a decade... now the marginal winners are being pushed out leaving once again, sharks and fish at most sites. Also unfortunately, this particular site/network, chose to boot the sharks out completely... let us hope that other networks do not follow suit!
