It's just an international transfer to the Phillipines. Next time I'm gonna rip the person apart I swear.

Somewhere on the WU website they say you cannot use WU for gambling deposits.

The name was not really a name, and she looked at it strangely, then she noticed my jacket and the RPM poker on the top of the page i gave her and she said "OH no! We don't do Illegal Gambling here, OHHH NOO" + fingerwag. I started to argue with her and asked her for WU policy sheet and then i looked at the stupid redneck bitch and realized I would be better off going elsewhere.

Ironically, while this convo is going on, there's a guy to my left talking to her about scratch off tickets, he's pissed off from work, sighing and complaining how he's gonna blow all his money on tickets if this keeps going. She just smiles at him, like "hey what are you going to do".

I said I guess I have to go elsewhere, drove down the block to a different grocery store, left my fulltilt jacket in my car , tore the RPM logo off the top and no questions asked.

Lesson in all of this is that it is ok to buy lottery tickets where you have a slim to no chance of winning and there is no skill involved. Also you should play games where the rake is 50%. Also when there is rake, you should only play games where the rake goes to corrupt politicians and religiously affiliated rabbis. (See state of NJ).

Depositing to play poker on the other hand is a major no no and you have no business playing a game which requires skill, and develops patience.

Don't you get it?
It's in WU ToS that it's not to be used for Internet Gambling.

My WU deposit story:
First, I walked to a K-mart and the lady tells me the machine is broken. Walked back home and checked the WU website to find other locations. The site told me there was a WU in a 7-11 about 1/2 mile away. So I drive to 7-11 and nope, they don't do money transfers. I see a phone card store across the street with a big Moneygram sign. I go in there hoping they do WU transfers as well. Nope, but they tell me to go to a check cashing place a few blocks down. So I go there and they are closed. Starting to feel frustrated but I persist. Then I see a Rite-Aid and I remember reading a post about someone else doing a WU transfer in a Rite-Aid. When I walk up to doors, I see a small WU Money Transfers sticker and my hopes go up. In the photo processing center, there is a tiny office that looks like the WU clerk's office. Inside was this fat guy with a ridiculously high pitched/ gay lisp. He informed me that they don't do money transfers (even though theres a small WU poster on the wall that says money transfers wtf???) then tells me about a place across from another Rite-Aid's that does WU transfers. He says "its about 7 looong blocks down, then make a right and go bout another 5 blocks". At this point I was feeling like a big loser going all around town just to deposit a few hundred bucks on a poker site. But the degen in me told me to keep going. So back in the car, I start driving into a unfamiliar neighborhood. I start noticing more homeless people, spanish people and black people walking around. I find the check cashing store and feel relieved that it's still open. Once in the store, the WU money transfer goes through pretty smoothly (about 5 minutes since I already filled out the money transfer form at home). When I got home, the MTCN number did not work for me immediately - the poker site told me to contact support. I tried again after a few hours and it went through fine. Played some NL4.

I never want to go through this **** again. I can't imagine any recreational players will go through what I just did.

Cliffs: After visiting many stores, finally found a check cashing store in the ghetto and transferred successfully by WU. Felt like a degenerate loser for wasting so much time to just deposit a few hundred bucks to play poker online.

Tore the RPM logo off of what?

Not sure why you guys going to stores don't use WU online. Pretty easy and can do it from your home.
05-04-2011 , 02:38 AM
Wow, interesting stores. The WU scare tactics could scare off some recreational players. They can't ever really know for sure whether it is or it isn't an illegal gambling transaction. They can just have their suspicions, that's all.

Complaints >>>>timely payouts. Thinking that the smaller sites were a viable option was nothing more than an abberration. This is just not working out. People are having way too many problems getting paid. If the DOJ shuts down Merge they aren't gonna let us get our money this time.

I got a UMW invite with one small WU deposit. However, I can't get my Carbon account verified after sending crystal clear pics of the needed documents and speaking to live chat.

You could have just done it online =/ The other question is, how the **** do they know its for gambling and not for your phillipino wife you just bought of the interent? If they find out it's for gambling it is your own ******ed fault and you don't deserve to play online.

My thoughts exactly. How would anyone know you are wiring money to play poker?? Online is a piece of cake, took me 15 minutes from start to finish.

I registered online but did not get verified. Probably because I only have a cellphone and no landline.

Some people have said that they've had problems with this. I was able to get verified instantly with a text message.

I talked with chat support on Carbon. I mentioned that I wanted to deposit via Western Union, but wanted to transfer the money via Western Union's website.

He said it was no problem. He was correct. I transferred 1k into my account on Carbon all via Western Union's website. The money was available on my Carbon account in about 5 minutes after it went through on WU's site. The fee was $30, but they give you a $30 bonus that is easy to clear and stacks with other deposit bonuses.

The only "extra" thing I had to do was use my debit card instead of a regular credit card online to pay Western Union. None of my regular credit cards would work (Maybe because of the amount?). I then had to call Western Union and confirm my identity before they would put the money through. It took me 15 minutes total and I never left the house.

It does seem sketchy sending 1k to some guy's name in the Phillipines, but after hearing people were getting cashouts, I decided to risk the 1k.

The games are a bit tougher than I had hoped though...Although I did run good and win a little.

P.S. I should also mention: Getting an online account with Western Union may take you a few days to a week. They have to physically mail you a code to activate your account. However, they also give you a printable voucher for $10 off your first transfer. I think it was $10, but don't quote me on that...

Not sure the racism/elitism is necessary.

I was able to select an option to have them text me the activation code. Got the text about 10 seconds after I chose that option. A few people have said that WU had to send them the code in the mail. Not sure if they are just not seeing the text option or if it's not being offered to them for some reason??

I suspect they cross reference your personal information in some database. If it matches up they send you a text.

If it doesn't or they can't locate it then they send you snail mail. I had to get a letter despite living at my current address for a number of years.

Anyone who has gotten a check withdrawal from RPM recently:

How long did it take you to get approved?
Did you get any kind of confirmation emails?

I requested a cashout a couple weeks ago, but it was declined due to not having ID documentation. I got that taken care of and I requested another cashout last Sunday. It has shown as "pending approval" ever since in my cashier window, but I have never gotten an email or any kind of message.

Emailed support, but haven't heard back either.

Wondering if they just don't send you any notice? Or if they're still waiting on some more documentation from me?

Is it true no more rakeback after June1s for new players? Site has been scaling back past six months to bare bones. Rewards, tier prmos etc. Is site just looking to pump out as much profit as possible before the inevitable ? It seemes that way to me. Don't think Merge could survive without American players could they?

Sorry. So many merge threads out there I thought it was carbon main thread, my apologies.
