I really don't get it. You guys really think this is the way to go? Pokerstars provides a service, if you don't like the service- bitch, complain, moan, send e-mails to support, w/e, make your voice heard--- it's all acceptable.

But to try to intentionally hurt the games are not. If it upsets you this much then withdraw your money and take it elsewhere, that is well within your right, as it is in Pokerstars to change the structure of their games.

Occupy Pokerstars is trying to damage a company that provides a service for you. I believe it is a wrong concept.

The old man I use to buy my tires from died. His son took over the place and proceeded to jack the prices up. Was it time to "Occupy the tire Store"? Or just do business elsehwere.

To do what "Occupy Pokerstars" is intended to do is not a protest, but a direct attack on a business.

I'm sorry, but I'm more of the opinion that you voice your displeasure, try to reason with them, then if things don't change to your satisfaction, you take your business elsewhere.

Yeah, thats one option. Its not everyone's first instinct to run away from things they don't like, especially if they really don't want to run away.

If it comes down to it I'll run to another site, but I'd rather not have it come to that.

For me, getting better answers about how these changes will effect me OR insuring that changes are made so that the cost to play is not increased would be a desirable result.

I'm not looking forward to protesting at all. I accept that I could be wrong, and that protesting in this way may possibly have no benefit at all. I'm doing it anyways because I see it as the lesser of two evils.

I have contacted pokerstars requesting more information. They were unfortunately not helpful enough.

And in advance they already increased the prices probably of these donkeys etc. Just noticed the other day that the casino cards i sometimes order for giveaways went up from 1250 FPP to 1500 FPP.... so is probably the rest...

I agree with you dstock the biggest problem is that Pokerstars is a monopoly. For any regular it is not a option to take your business elsewhere.

there's a sit out details thread in the zoo, but the plan is to sit out permanently 24/7 until stars guarantees compensation, starting at the popular stakes like 100nl, 50nl, etc. people who can't start on time will join later. the tables don't kick you off if there's 5 people sat out and 1 empty seat, or all 6 sat out, and i think 4 people and 2 sat in, not sure about that one though. since we don't have 2000 protesters it's been suggested to not block tables with 6 sitouts, but put 2-4 on each table to disrupt as much of the site as possible. people don't join 6max tables to play HU, so we only need 4 per table.

Apparently there's some problems with EFNet?

If you're using IRC, why now use QuakeNET? One of the biggest networks with good and easy to obtain channel protection (Q) and a working easy to use web-based client for those who don't frequently use IRC.

Seriously, if stars said "Hey guys, no changes, see you in a year!" people would be thrilled. If they said, "we have to make this change, but we moved things around so it stays pretty much the way it was" that's fine too.

Instead they said, "If you play anything that looks like rational poker, we're going to take money from you. Then, we'll say we're giving it to guys who don't know what they're doing, but in reality, we're just keeping most of it."

Surely you can see why that would not sit well with players.
+1 I think this is one of the more concise explanations of what is going on

I respect you answer. (I fully expected to get flamed). I must admit that I don't fully comprehend how the changes will affect people. The Merge network has a similar policy.

I know it has been broken down with the %'s and all and I have read them, and maybe I'm just too feeble-minded, but did Pokerstars lower the amount of FPP's they give out. Or is it just because the FPP's only go to whoever was in the pot that has people in an uproar.

Basically, do they still give out the same number of FPP's per $1 in rake they collect that they use to?

Can you set it up? If people had problems with efnet web-based client, dont really see why qnet would be any different.

How so? I'm an American, I've been 'sitting out' since April 15. I still play on Merge, Cake, and Bodog( now Bovada). In your opinion, is Pokerstars still the best "option" even with these changes?

Same number of VPPs but not the same number of FPPs as they're spread over low VIP level players with a low VPP->FPP multiplier, and the site pockets the difference, with no compensation, under the guise of fairness, effectively raising average rake for most players.

Are you guys even remotely worried that Pokerstars will close your accounts? After all, you are trying to harm them.

Most likely, PS will give it a few days, and this little protest will die out and it will be business as usual.

How many of you are actually prepared to cashout and close your accounts?

that's contrary to the opinions of those more informed than you (long time regs with experience of pokerstars' decisions), common business sense (they'd most likely aim to avoid banning hundreds of accounts, and the negative PR associated with it, electing rather to pursue negotiations and some kind of compromise) and historical evidence (the pokerstars.fr strike of july 2010 when no one was banned and a site rep personally phoned the strike leader to guarantee a rake decrease and peacefully resolve the situation).

Is it possible at all that Stars will start playing back at us?

I'm a bit feeble minded myself Honestly, part of the reason I'm choosing to sit out is to demand better information and if the cost to play is actually being increased then I would like to see this corrected. VPPs go to players that put money in the pot. just like at other sites that use a contributed model but VPPs =/= rakeback. If you sign on they have some links about the new changes.

The irony of it is that FPP stands for Frequent Player Points, yet the old system rewarded everyone dealt into the hand, whether they folded or not.

Oh my, I see now. This is an attack on mass-tablers and botlike computer programs that people use. I understand the pickle now.

I understand Pokerstars position also. Seems like a move to "bring back the action".

Well, I'll leave the thread now. Good luck on your movement, although I must admit that I am leaning towards PS on this issue.

No it isn't. Thanks for the well wishes though.

They didn't in the pokerstars.fr strike of july 2010, and it wouldn't be good business sense or PR to start banning 100s of peacefully striking players imo.
