How tough are the games lately?

I haven't played seriously online for about a year and a half. Im gonna be starting up again soon and I'd like to know if the games have gotten better or worse since then. It had seemed to me at the time that the games were slowly and steadily getting tougher to beat. I'm just wondering if that trend has continued over the last 18 months or so.
