How does this not already exist? How does this not already exist?

Every few months I go on a searching spree through the interwebs trying to find out if there is an application downloadable or configuration to allow PokerStars or FTP to be played on a mobile phone.

People say it's not possible and how they'll probably never come out with it, but that's completely ridiculous. With 3G network access alongside the technology Smartphone's have, it's completely feasible and would be a brilliant for the major online poker rooms. Just require players to be connected to at least a 3G network.

Imagine being able to play on PokerStars while on train or bus to work. Or sitting deep in a tournament and your power goes kaput. Just load up the old PokerStars application on your iPhone and go on to take down the MTT.

So does anybody know if this is being developed? Or are they just going to skip out on this?

Why don't you develop it instead of whining about others not bothering to?

If I had access to connect to PokerStar's servers to send player's hand information to an IP address I'd be sitting at home watching your whole cards along with everyone else at the table as you play them across the country. Only the company can develop it because only they have access to the server settings that store player's current hands.

Duh.

I doubt they are interested in it because it would just make it harder for them to control cheating and collusion. With computers, at least they can look at IP addresses, with cell phones, not so much.

IMO, it would open up multi accounting to a whole new level.

I think the latency of these networks would be a huge problem, which is why there are very few multi-player games (poker or otherwise) using 3G phones.

good idea for casino games and for poker, it would probably only work for play money but thats fine because if players find the games through there cellular phone then they would most likely deposit for real money at there homes.

on the other hand, I know some people use a netbook to play poker - http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/48...tbooks-344505/

This requires a wi-fi connection, rather than 3g, but they'd probably be compatible with 3g usb tokens.

Also using remote desktop you can do the same, just need a base PC running the software and some sort or Remote Desktop client, i would guess VNC might work as well, depends on what phone you have what your choices are.

do you need to hack your iphone to that or is a standard appstore thing?

Standard appstore thing but it's like $10. It's basically a remote desktop application for your iPhone that works with the Windows RDP.

He probably uses a laptop tethered to a blackberry (using the blackberry as a modem).

This can be very (very) expensive, depending on the data plan they're on...
