In fact I would be willing to be many online players dodge taxes as their is no way to track any of the money. Something that will also be ending soon. So enjoy it while it lasts.
Actually, Nfuego, some of this is correct but its hidden in his ranting conclusionary style.
First of all, nothing can be proven beyond fact. Second, the U.S. forbids sports betting over wire and phone lines, but gambling in the U.S. is within the realm of state law not federal law. That is why we have Vegas on one hand and on the other Washington State declaring internet poker a crime for its residence. Third, there is nothing illegal about an out of country website accepting money over the internet, the Fed gov't passed a law that makes it illegal for banks, of a certain size, to fund internet gambling, including poker. This law has yet to be tested in court as no person or organization has been prosecuted to date.
Sites that are offshore are not governed by U.S. law, but other than you and LEGO, no one expects them to be. They operate in a country that allows internet gambling. They operate legally.
Our international courts may one day deal with internet gambling (doubt it) but the WTO ruled against the U.S. on this issue. But that is only a trade organization, not a court of law.
