Funny the thread wouldn't be deleted rather than just locked. This way the thread can still be viewed and discussed in threads like this one.

Come to think of it, why isn't this thread deleted too?

Hey,

I'm running 20 buyins below EV since New Years. And 75-80% of my all-in hands (with effective stacks of 80BB+) are destroyed by cooler or suckout.

Is it time to join to rigtards?

Ah, the initiation rituals.

Happy days.

Remember those twins, Destiny and Brandy?

And the girl with the snake?

And don't get me started on Candi and the wet celery.

How long do I keep believing it is variance?

No, I don't actually expect to find the game is rigged. Yet when you see an absurdly bad swing under EV, it starts messing with your head. Like when I start predicting how Villain is going to suck out on me.

Until either:

a) You allow paranoia to defeat the normal functioning of your mind,

or

b) You build up evidence that your results lie outside what would normally be considered reasonable variance.

That's typically what leads to a confirmation bias.

You think things are going badly so predict a suckout.

If it happens you add it to your memory of such suckouts and it acts to confirm your belief that something is wrong.

If it doesn't happen you grudgingly admit that, well, it doesn't happen absolutely every time and forget the 'outlier'.

Or just join a turbo double or nothing on stars and see this in action from the get go. Its beyond questionable or suspect. It's blatantly rigged. The big stacks win at an abnormal rate vs short stacks, over the long run.
I guess this is to help them save money on dealers?

I think that's what LV was intending to imply.

I don't think he's gone over to the dark side.

I was just being sarcastic, like the guy told me to save my money because he didn't think I knew how to play. There was supposed to be a double meaning to that..

to the riggie "see, he said for him to save his money" [it's rigged]
to the online pp "lol, he didn't think he could play poker"

But he never said that to me. It was a joke I made up (while I was high, so..). But I did actually meet one of the founders back during the first year Paris was open (1999). He was playing Caribbean Stud of all the games. But the thing that I remembered about him was how good he was with statistics maths and probabilities. He was telling everyone at the table the odds of different hands coming up, the -EV of playing the bonus $1, different odds of different games. It was pretty cool. Before he left he gave me a thick white rubber band with PokerStars and the logo on it. Then about a year or so later, I remember PokerStars launching. I also remember [around that time] hearing rumors floating around about a "rich Texas banker playing heads up against poker pros for big money". Right across the street

** And no, I'm not that good of a poker player (it's all relative really).. but I've won my share of monie$, Joeson.
