Good poker monitors as of 8-24-2009? Good poker monitors as of 8-24-2009?

I used to have a dual Dell setup - two 20" flatscreens at 1600x1200.

One of them broke... and I'm going to let my wife use the remaining monitor for her business.

So I'm in the market for a monitor again, but this time I'm just going to buy one.

Given that, and also given that I 8-table, what are some of my options? For reference, I also have a laptop with a 17" screen at 1900x1200 resolution (or something like that... non widescreen) and 8 tables are waaay too small on it.

So I'm guessing I wouldn't be happy with something like this, that's only 21.5" 1920x1080

If I go to 24 inches at 1920x1080, will the tables be big enough? Like this Samsung T240HD - is this the poker monitor of choice these days?

It's a little more than I want to spend.

What about this LG? Similar specs to the Samsung but a bit cheaper.

Dell 30 inch. Any 30 inch monitor is a pleasure to grind on

I'm kind of reluctant to buy another Dell monitor after seeing so many of the 2001FP units break or get weird discoloration after a year or two.

Plus, $1,700 is pretty insane for a monitor. I don't need the best possible monitor, just one that won't make my eyes bleed while 8-tabling. I want to spend $300 or less.

Currently leaning toward that 23" Samsung I posted.

Anyone have this? Good/bad experiences with it?

Not sure which monitor you're talking about as neither of the "last" ones I posted have speakers built in.

If you want to go with get something that does 1920*1200 (many but not all 24-28 inch models do this). If you tile is the best option for someone who does not want to shell out for a 30"

Does anyone use any of the mentioned 23''/24'' Samsungs with a laptop? Will most mainstream laptops need to get a video card upgrade to run the monitor?

T260HD by Samsung is definitely the most solid monitor I have ever used (LOL Have used only like 3 so not much of a sample size). It might be slightly expensive for a monitor because it is ALSO a 1080p HD TV! Great for dorms/apartments...You can also opt for the smaller T240HD version, or even the non-television version as well for an even cheaper price.

I too like the t260HD monitor.... its very nice. I have the normal version and not the tv version. The only thing i found though was that it took me 5 minutes to calibrate... which is nothing really but was kind of tedious

If you want to spend 300 or less, then anything will do. Just buy a 30 inch monitor; it will pay for itself. You can buy the old Dell one for $999 at Costco. Dell outlet also has them refurbished sometimes for $749; if you include an eBay coupon ($20) you get an additional 20% off.

I have a Samsung 305T, which has been completely awesome for me! I also have my 2 old 19" Philips LCD monitors to the left and right of it for chatting, movies, HM etc while playing...

24" Samsung 1920x1080 Model 2494HM

$199 for Costco members

Was listed at 240 but when you bring it up to the register they automatically take 40 off. Tough to beat for $200. So far so good, wish I could find some good calibration settings though.

Nice thing is I can 4 table easy while reading/movie watching and also read the HUD on the tables. Pretty sweet.

I got the Samsung SyncMaster 2443BWX (24") from either the Stars or Tilt store and the Samsung 204B (20") from the other store and both have been fantastic. I also have some old Dell 19" as a third monitor and it's not nearly as good. Can't go wrong with Samsung for monitors, in my opinion.

How does T240 Samsung 24" compare to the one at Costco?

Costco also has a good price on the Vizio 26" and the Hanns G 28"
