Posting this so other will not lose money the same way. So this just happened to me and this is an email i sent to GG support:

Hi, i just got "a free ticket worth 100$" to enter a what i was mislead to believe a 100$ flip & go tournament. When i clicked on a ticket it led me to a registration to what i still believed was a 100$ tournament. I got only 2 options to choose from - cash balance or tournament $. I chose tournament $ at which point i was mislead to believe i am registrering with that "100$ free ticket". To my shock and surprise, not only i did not register with that ticket, but both the ticket and extra 400$ from my cash balance was used. At no point i was made aware of that, nor was i offered an option to confirm that 400$ will be withdrawn. This i consider to be an intentional fraudulent behavior and if the situation is not fixed and 400$ returned to my account, i will contact the licence regulator of your company and never play a hand of poker on your site again.

Thats not the point. The point is i was mislead. I always get an option to confirm what the total amount will be when i register. Not this time.

TL;DR

OP got taken to a registration screen of a tournament and didn't read the entry fee of the tournament and is blaming GGPoker for his inability to read.

You didn't get robbed.

There was never a confirmation screen that would say my total buy in amount would be 500$.

So it was a free $100 off a $500 tournament? What was the exact wording of the offer, and the tournament lobby (i'm not familiar with GG, but i'm sure when you register for a tourney you would be clicking through a tournament lobby with a description of the buyin/structure/payouts/etc.) Surely it said the total buy in somewhere.

In all cases, free offers from poker sites are always like this. They sound to good to be true (because they are-there's always a catch) and you need to read the details.

Ever deposited on a site that promised a "100% deposit bonus"? Then you find out the amount you have to pay in rake to actually clear it, slowly?

1. Got a mail informing me about 100$ ticket
2. Clicking on the ticket, got redirected to a lobby with different flights of that tournament
3. Clicked the earliest flight - cause i wanted to be done with it, did not wanna forget it.
4. Got to a screen to choose between cash balance or tournament $. I thought it was weird that using the ticket was not an option, but proceeded.
5. Got to a screen where my only option was to proceed without showing how much the total buy in would be.
6. Checked balance to see if the ticket was used - it was, with additional 400$ from the balance.

They replied quickly that they will not refund. I asked why there was not a screen where i would have to confirm the total amount - which i always have to normally. Over an hour without reply.

It took you to the first available game u could use that ticket for. they will probably not give you back anything because it was you that registered and if you would have won you would probably not complain.

Just be very carefull in the future where you click...since when does clicking "tournament balance" uses a ticket? This was kind of your fault to click anything related to your bankroll when you only want to use a free ticket. It took away real money you say? Well that is a bit strange then. There was no game lobby open where you could see the total buy-in? you said urself that you got redirected.

Lol at thinking they care if you ever play there again. Double lol at posting this in NVG.

Even if you mean well... and of course you want sympathy, I assume for your situation. This is the wrong forum! Most people on this forum enjoy your situation. Take for example, Esa_Perse uhhh I mean RandomLurker. He was banned from this forum but made a new account because he is addicted when other people have it bad. An insecure narcissist! He is only happy when others are having a bad time. Pathetic and disgusting person!

I dont really care for sympathy, nor do the negative comments affect me. I wanted to warn others - cause i have been playing online poker for about 20 years now - surely about 300 days every year (so yes, i know how to register to a tournament) and i have never experienced a situation like this. And i am also curious if there will be more players like me, who might Google it and come to this thread).

as usual i am confused why so many posters not only side with the site but express zero empathy for the OP. Sites should catering to the players and players should expect as much. Not expecting better is part of the reason things have gone so downhill.

this is a shitty situation. are you able to find a similar lobby and take screens and show them where confusion lies?

I wouldn't accuse them of fraudulent activity bc i don't think they're really gaining anything here outside a one-off bloated tourney fee. Also back off from the threatening language for now, although i understand your position of wanting to come off firm and strong. Stay relaxed and ask for manager contact, supervisor, etc. ask to explain your situation, show them the screens. stay calm and polite. go from there, GL

edit: they will have a history of your buy-ins, you can potentially show them you don't play $500 tournies regularly. what was your account balance at the time? you may be able to show them that you would typically never buy-in with x% of your account

Ok sorry

The Problem is that you registered for it and rooms are in general very strict when it comes to players asking for refunds telling them they did not want to register for something where they lost.

I agree that its very missleading from them but they are a gambling company with history of confiscating players bankrolls for bumhunting and agents who provide playability in juristrictions where its not allowed.

Forget about it they will not refund. Sucks but it is what it is.

Thread title is misleading. GGPoker didn't rob you. This is unfortunate and sorry it happened to you, but this is allyour own mistakes. There wasn't any bad intentions on their end either. Likely your misfortune here is due to inexperiance.

-When you register with a ticket it will say ticket. You assumed tournament dollars was fine but that isn't how it works.

-Flip and goes you can enter for 1-5 buy-ins and there is a slider to lower the buy-in amount which you didn't use.

-As far as not having a confirmation screen this is wrong too. It shows Starting Stack and Buy-in amount on the registration popup where the final button that says register is clicked. If you reduce the buy-in with the slider those amounts will reduce.

Unregistration is possible as well. So when you make a mistake you can unregister no problem. Maybe you registered last minute or were lazy and didn't notice, but whatever the case all of this is your own mistakes.
