Are any of the monitors in the store good?

I'm looking to pick up a new monitor and just wondering if I should just buy it or if any of FTP's monitors are good.

What is the difference between the Canon Rebel Xti, Canon SD1000, and Canon A550 for casual users? Will the A550 be ok or should I wait to order one of the other 2? The Xti looks like it would be a little big to take to clubs for casual pictures, that is my only concern with it.

Rebel is for semi-pro photographers... maybe if you want sweet landscape pics on vacation.

Cheapest digital will suffice for club pics.

Thanks for getting back NewGuy with the info. Lol, the store I don't think ever actually replied to me on it, I guess I just forgot about it.

Is there any way to haggle with that and boost the specs on it? I know I'm whining a bit, but I wouldn't mind paying more pts if that was the case. Anyone have any info/done this in the past?

I guess I'll send them another email about this, but doubt they'll get back to me anytime soon.

Based on FTP store's 3 week response time to basic email inquiries (such as "where's my item I ordered ten weeks ago?") and 9-12 year shipping window, my guess is no.

Um, don't hold your breath on being able to haggle the specs.

Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised that the MacBook in the store was the $1,299 version with SuperDrive (was expecting the $1,099 with DVD reader, and that's not upgradeable).

Memory is cheap online and you could upgrade to 2GB for well under $100.

279,000 points for $1,300 retail item is actually not bad, especially when you compare the number of points for the older electronics vs. prices on Pricegrabber (e.g., Sony/Hp laptop, most of monitors).

Yea, I can't wait till they get a high end vaio for US people, I'll probably get all over that

Agreed, the price in pts is decent value.

I have the Xti, it's the type of camera you bring around when you're #1 intention is taking photos... and it can take some really great ones. It would stick out like sore thumb in a club though.

I think it's important to have a good DSLR and a quality point and shoot camera. I do, and I use them both frequently.

FTP Dough said this... so did a supervisor in response to another inquiry I sent in.

They have never stated 17" laptops were coming, all they said were "bigger laptops". In any case, they are actually overdue know. I sent an inquiry into the store a day or 2 ago to see if this was definitely happening and what models they might get. Unsurprisingly, no response yet.

Really seems to be a personal vendetta for asking too many questions.

Well, the MacBooks at the FTP store were a decent deal for about 2 weeks

Looks like Apple just refreshed & upgraded the MacBook line, but I don't think we should expect to see any changes to the specs for the machine in the FTP store.

This is just another reason why concierge service / gift certificates are a way better deal for players.

Here's the $1,299 machine available on apple.com now:

* 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
* 2GB memory
* 160GB hard drive1
* Double-layer SuperDrive

I emailed them and they said that a shipment was coming in "tomorrow". Haven't they said this wayyy too many times for it to be a coincidence that every shipment comes in "tomorrow". I think they just forget and decide not to do it.

I received this on 2/25:

Thank you for your email. Our records indicate that your order was placed,
however, the television was on temporary backorder with our distributor. I
have contacted the distributor and confirmed that your order will go out
by 2/26, at the latest. I will provide your tracking number once it ships.

We sincerely apologize for the delay in this matter.
I haven't received any tracking number yet. I think you're right.

I was curious a couple weeks ago if they would add a 17" laptop. I was told a new Sony Vaio would be in the store on Feb. 14th, but it hasn't shown. Here's the latest response I've received:

Hello XXXXXX,

Thank you for your email. Unfortunately, the graphics department was
unable to add the Sony Vaio to the store by 2/14, however, it will be
added, shortly.

In the meantime, the model number for the Sony Vaio model to be added is:
VGNAR630E, so that you may research it on your own.

Some of the specs include:

* 17" Widescreen TFT 1440x900
* 2GB Ram
* DVD+RW/DVD-RAM/BD-ROM
* Intel Core 2 Duo Processor

Please let us know if we may be of further assistance.

Regards,

Chloe

I'm not too keen on the model they chose, it looks very heavy and a bit out dated.

let me get this straight, they got the new laptop into inventory ~ Feb 14th, and 2 weeks later the "graphics department" still hasn't gotten it available for the store?
