While I would also like the Academy to work with Rush Poker, I kind of agree that it is a horrible idea for beginners.
Everyone is an idiot to some extent when they start playing. At a regular table you get to watch other people play to get some idea of how to improve your game. At Rush poker, every single hand you see postflop has an idiot (i.e. you) in it.
Yes, it does work for some challenges, but it seems not to work for any of the ones that mention the word "session". Which is just about all of the cash challenges except for the one you are working on.
The "The academy is for beginners, Rush Poker isn't" argument doesn't work for me. The challenges in which a beginner is learning how to play (raise 3x with AK, fold A4o, etc.) work fine. What doesn't work are the results or pro plays based on those skills. If anything, it should be the other way around, where the beginner learns how to play in a regular game and then applies what he learned to have a profitable Rush Poker session.
On the challenges where you have to double or triple your buyin: Is it possible to double up, activate the challenge and then leave the table? Or do you need to activate the challenge before sitting at the table? Thx.
Thanks Tapir for the heads up on the Ferguson challenge. Primarily a SNG player but enjoying the Rush Poker phenomenon. Was able to knockout the first run through of the challenge in ~75minutes plus made a few BI.
For some reason, tasks needing cashes or wins sometimes take till the next day. I have no idea why, but it's annoying. As long as the tourney is over, you can switch to a different challenge and still have them credit. Lately, none of mine have missed getting credited. Some have just taken 15+ hours.
Gus Hansen's (600 credits) or Eric Lindgren's (700 credits). You'll have to make 5k though. I think that's the minimum points you can buy. It might be more then that though.
Harmen's is the biggest one for cash games, and fairly easy actually. Hansen's is also somewhat easy, but it can be a big time consuming cause of everything that needs to be done. If you just jump into a bunch of cheap DD sats, you can knock it out pretty fast.
I'd go with Harmen's though. It's a cash game, so it'll track much faster. If you multi-table, you can knock it out quick
Easiest way to make 5k right now is probably playing .05/.1 Rush poker and doing the Ferguson' Pre-Flop play task 10 times and Edler's Power of Position task 4 times. 2 tabling rush, I've been able to complete each attempt in under an hour.
> Im short my 4kpoints to register for the 1.5m GTD this sunday
Q?
> Is it possible to get 4k points by Sunday from this academy thing?
> If so, whats the easiest way of doing it?
Thanks all
Your best bet would be to play point sng's that award more points for the winner/top three, then unreg. These can be found in the sng tab under FTP tournaments.
If you buy in with points to a satelite to a tournament that can also be entered with points, you will get back points.
I can't open the client now but I'm pretty sure you can buy into the double deuce for 4400 points. Find a points sat to the double deuce, win, unregister for 4400 points.
I am had Sit and Gos by the Numbers as my active challenge. One thing left to go:
Fold A-J, A-T, A-9, K-Q, or K-J in early position 2 times while 7 or more players remain in a 9-handed S&G.
I had already done this once but playing in a 9 man matrix, I pick up AT off UTG, with 8 of us left on the table. Fold. No credit for doing the task hours later.
Any of you guys have trouble getting credit for certain events?
There is a new tracker that gets most hands within minutes, but some of the older tasks take awhile for some reason. I've had some take 12 hours. I'd hold a bit and see what happens, but email support if it's not credited after 12 hours. Or do it again.
Anybody have any suggestions for the best challenges to do for 14700 points? I want a FT Poker set without having to buy it in the normal points store and take a rake hit.
Also, I count 25 challenges now for a total of 7360 points (x10)...
