LOL, so after months and months of people asking for deep tables you think they would think they could just get rid of them and not expect people to be up in arms?
As for the software people not being poker players, that doesn't matter, the software people aren't the ones who make these decisions they just write the code. You can't be naive enough to think that poker people don't have any input in decisions made on a site that was created by poker people.
Here is the reasoning for why they would want to kill deep games but do it in a subtle way. They figure due to rakeback and overall comfort there regular players would not leave the site and would just grit their teeth and grind it out at the regular tables when not enough deep tables were runnings. They also know it's a benefit for their short stackers and would probably take some SSers away from Stars since they would be able to play in pretty much every game on FTP. And the casual player doesn't care much either way and would continue play. That is where the big thing is, casual players are going to go broke whether it happens sooner or later. Not having deep tables running so frequently makes it take longer for casual players to go broke, due to the fact when they double up to 200bbs at a regular table they are going to be covered by regs a lot less frequently and can't go broke on 1 hand while that is not the case at deep tables. Also at deep tables regs are able to isolate against casual players more freely due to not having to worry about SSers shoving over their raise.
So it makes perfect business sense to kill off deep tables if they were able to get the regs to stay put, because the casual players keep their rolls alive longer and pay more rake without deep tables. But every reg who prefers deep tables on 2p2 immediately complained and many threatened to move to Stars so they realized they had to put it back. I mean Deep games were even put below cap games, when cap games were previously listed below the uncapped games at the same limit. The intent was to bury them.
