FWIW if I don't get a response (either by a new check or refund to my account) for my "lost" check then I guess I'll start a thread. I emailed them about it ~5 days ago. They said that they would put a stop payment on the check if I wanted and would reimburse my account. So I emailed them to do so and they have yet to reimburse my account or respond to two emails.

I've sent 3 e-mails within the past week. I requested a check back on 9/30. If they are having problems with the third-party processor, fine, but I pay enough rake that the least they can do is respond to my ****ing e-mails.

The normal way to find out if the funds are available for a check is to do that above. Simply call the number on the check to verify from the processor that its "good", that the funds are "available".

However in these "check bouncing" instances I'm sure that in the large majority of cases that when the checks were in customers hands and if people were to call at that moment right before depositing, that the funds "would be available".

Calling the 866 number does nothing because the checks are bouncing not immediately, but instead 1-2-3-4 weeks later.

We realistically have no way to verify if the checks we receive now are "good" or not. And this makes a Check Cash Out option, a completely UNRELIABLE one.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Someone asked about whats the big deal with checks bouncing.

Well here's the big deal: If you keep bouncing checks your bank could just close your account. Or more likely, the bank would just take a very close look at your account.

Who here wants their respective bank to take a "close look" at their bank account?

Not me, and not any poker player. All those "suspicious looking deposits and credits" would be brought to light and no good would come from that.

Ditto. I sent an e-mail 4 days ago about the status of cash-out options. Simply if checks were "good" now or were they still having problems, and when bank transfer would be returning. I have received no reply, and I did express serious interest in cashing out in the near future.

FTP is a joke x 1,000,000.

I don't even want to cash out with a check with how things are now for the above reasons, its just a huge ****ing hassle. Then I have to worry for up to a month if that money is "good" or not, meaning I can't really spend it, so then what is the point of cashing out anyway!?

I'm going to re-send my previous e-mail and put "URGENT" in the subject line and see if something happens.

And:

Good luck to everyone in this thread who is getting checks now. We deserve better than this.

So my check approved on 9-24 just arrived in the mail. It is in the process of being canceled and returned to my account by FT. Should I email them back and tell them, or just let them cancel it? It is dated 9-24 but the post mark on the envelope is 10-22. It is from an account in Florida. Are checks issued from that time frame bouncing?

Called the number on the check and the lady said it is still good and is not going to be canceled. Should I just deposit it and hope for the best?

EDIT: She said FT had sent he a request to cancel several older checks (she didn't know about mine specifically) but that the company wasn't going to cancel them....

Do FT checks usually have an expiration date on them? just wondering because I'm expecting a check within 1-2 weeks and I'm going to be out of town for a while.

So it went through fine? I just got a check today from the same bank. And it's little more then I withdrew. Like $.88 more. Hope FTP isn't considering that a "Sorry for the month and a half debacle a couple checks ago"

That's normal. I think they do that so the checks aren't round numbers that look more suspicious?

I agree that there is no 100% way to be sure. I felt more comfortable with depositing the check from this particular processor b/c I have received Bodog checks from them before about a year earlier.

I have no idea really if it went through OK. As usual with all my poker checks, it ($0.33 more than requested) was cashed at my local check cashing center. They "advance" you the funds for a <2% fee. I never deposit poker checks to my bank accounts.

As for the "bad check" I had cashed at the same place two weeks earlier, I haven't received any notice from them yet that the check had bounced. When I had received FTP's email, I did call them up immediately to inform them of that possibility. So we'll see...

Check cash charges a <2% fee? I haven't seen it that low. Payroll checks, 2.99%. I have cashed a Pstars under payroll, Only when i get to convince the clerk. Last time, i was charged a 6% fee.
