Just received the following email and can't log on:

Gala Coral recently underwent some serious debt restructuring and was acquired by creditors (Google News), so maybe the new owners have a different legal opinion about operating in Canada. Or this could be the beginning of a Canadian exodus from Ongame. Or all poker sites are confirmed busto.

Let the wild speculation begin.

I posted in EZdonkey's ongame thread too but I'll just reiterate: this makes no sense at all. Gambling is NOT illegal in any way in Canada, and as Lozen said a number of sites host their servers in Canada (Merge, UB, AP, Bodog, I think FTP used to as well but moved offshore?).

There is no legislation in Canada like the UIGEA and there is no restriction on online gambling. I'm not sure what's going on here but it seems quite odd. I don't see how a "review of the legal position" could lead to this decision.

I gave up on trying to understand some sites and ewallets approach to Canada quite a while ago. I wouldn't worry about it too much; some nit in the legal department has decided that some imagined risk is too great for them. Maybe they hired someone over from Neteller?

Is Eurobet really a large OnGame skin? I find this hard to believe. And given the lack of responses here, I'm guessing not that many Canadians played there that much.

I can confirm this is just a decision made by the Gala Coral group, of which Eurobet is a part.

No other Ongame skins are affected and as far as I am aware this will not change in the near future.

Eurobet is a very big skin and the thing is that in general, not many canadians knows the ongame network. The ongame skins are not making a lot of advertisement here.

Not like party poker, full tilt, stars.. of which the ratio canadian/total players im pretty sure is much bigger

I just received an E-mail saying that my account at Eurobet is closed, due to legal reasons. I don't get it, has some law passed?

What happens when you e-mail them asking for an explanation of the legal position in Canada?

Nothing. I emailed them as soon as I received the email and haven't heard from them since.

Finally received a (useless) reply from them.

i called at eurobet office and they said that they were doing all the cash out for closed canadian account on monday which was yesterday.

He also said that they were expecting the money to be in Moneybookers account by MAX wednesday.
