Last night, I blew about 2/3 of my roll that I have worked hard to build up because I was playing completely hammered. Feel like an idiot. Do you play after you have been drinking or drink while you play? I might have to stop doing this.

I usually stop playing poker and start posting to 2+2 right about the time I get completely blotto. I find that this helps both my bankroll and my post count. Give it a try.

after reading these threads i drop down to the lowest games possible. i'm a winning drunk. i play either 2nl or 2.20 hu sngs and i crush them when drunk. but for the most part i dont play drunk too often. best advice i can give you is to self exclude before going out to drink.

Wait, are you from the US? I don't think it's actually legal to get drunk over there.

I only play STT's when hammered, its the best stop loss method I have found.

Just have to condition yourself to want to play them while drunk

This might be a good idea.

Two questions:

1. Do you drop down in stakes when playing STT?

2. Do you play your usual game if just buzzed or do you try to separate your usual game from drinking altogether?

it includesrussians. i was in moscow for 3 months earlier this year, and as an average american, i was a super heavyweight over there. i dunno where all this movie stuff comes from that's all like germans, irish, russians being heavyweights and americans being pussies.

on new years i was at this vacation house with my girlfriend and a bunch of her friends (in moscow). guy breaks out some shot glasses and fills them all up with henessy. everyone takes one, do their cheer, and i down it while everyone else takes a drink and looks at me like i'm crazy for doing a shot out of a shot glass. not sure why they even have them, tbh. met a lot of people over there, and maybe one or two that weren't lightweights, and they were middleweights at best.

i like their cheap wine in a box though.

yeah, pretty much. i mean, there was one guy that did some shots with me, but he couldn't just gravity them down for some reason. its like he had to drink them if that makes sense.

edit: he tossed pretty bad after a while too

Drinking while playing was one of the biggest leaks in my game. I refuse to drink while playing anymore.

When I'm sober, I play NL200 sometimes taking shots at NL400

When Im drunk, I play STT's anywhere between $5-$10.

Worst case scenario is losing 10 buy ins before I pass out, and Im sure my sharkscope is lol depending on how much I drank at the time.

I dont find sitting in front of the comp drunk very amusing, so no.

I've played live drunk many a times....one time I was so drunk I ran off without collecting my chips (thank you mgm for holding on to them when I got back the next day.....you guys rule......it was a nice surprise tbh )

I've played online so drunk that I won a donkament and didn't even remember...the only way I knew I did it was stars sent me the little congrats email and opened it the next morning.

I just move down stakes when I play trashed....I'll blackout before I'm not +EV at NL50 or NL200 live.

i play all the time when i get really ****ed up, but i only play $5 donkaments and stuff.

Yeah I've gone on tilt a few times drinking but I don't think it was the booze but instead my stubborness to keep on playing while donks continued to pwn me making every draw out there. It's frustrating indeed but we can only blame ourselves for the most part losing self-control to not just call it a night or if we jump in games outside of our roll.

Like OP, generally I've found it to be a huge detriment to my bankroll. However, one glorious evening, I came in near blackout and started shortstacking FR 50NL on Bodog. I don't remember what I played, if anything, after that. The next day, in addition to a massive hangover, I discovered that I had somehow booked a nice $350 profit. Thank you, Bacardi and Ed Miller!

ill drink while i play, but usually just a beer or so, nothing substantial. i actually think i play better with one beer in me.

Sometimes after a fun night out and I actually strike out.

I come home, attempt to sign in 3 times, finally do it.

Go to the .01/.02 NL tables and open shove the amount of times I either got turned down or can somehow remember the amount of girls I wanted to do.

It's like I have to punish myself for not being able to punish a girl.
