hi every1

i played online poker for more than 4 years at all stakes at many sites but last year i play more on PS and before like month or 2 i open my acc and see big amount of money that doesnt belong to me.
i opened my email and ps security email me that i have been cheated by 1 of the plrs in the site which they dont wanna expose and they also dont wanna say how he was doin that all they say is that the net amount he won from me or something like that is X and they refund it to my account.

i didnt do anything just take the money and didnt email them back and i realy feel that sometimes there r some plrs lately who can cheat.
i want ur opinion and if i should ask for more information or anything like that?
i am realy clueless about what to do as this thing is very scary as we play for big money we should deserve more information.
i am also dont want to expose myself cuz i donno what that can cause by ps.

i am realy clueless about what to do and want some opinion from serious ppl

i know my english is bad and i must missed many things but i will answer everything missed

if this isnt the place for the thread plz remove it
tx

A copy of the email would add a lot to the thread.

You def need to request more info or pull your cash from that site and play elsewhere.
Was it done in a way that some one else could do it?
What precautions have been made to prevent in the future?
How did they find out?

More info or gtfo

I completely disagree. PS is as good as it gets integrity-wise for online poker. They caught someone and refunded your money. What more can you ask for? This isn't an every day occurance, but it happens regularly enough. Many other players here have gotten similar emails and generally been happy about it.

probably two or more players who were colluding. that's the only way i can think of where someone could cheat on stars? is there anything else it could be?

This happened to me.
It made me feel better about playing on stars. Im sure cheating happens on every site, but I feel its more likely to be caught on stars.

I have experienced this numerous times.

Not big money, but in the $20 - $60 - range. I play mainly low limit SnGs, and apparently people have been caught colluding.

Apart from satisfying your curiosity, what would you use more information for?

When it comes to security Stars is clearly the market leader.

I got an E-mail from Stars, saying that I had been refunded a few dollars and moved up two spots in the finishing order of a tournament. I got more information than you did, but they would not say who the players were, and they did not tell me which tournament it was.

The did tell me that the players were warned, and that they would never be allowed to play in the same cash game or the same SNG.

I assume I must have got the same mail as everyone else in the tournament, because I was the one that made the complaint. It was obvious from chat that the two players were friends, and that they were cooperating openly during the tournament.

I asked PokerStats to check the chat log, and they did.

So, a complaint was made, PokerStars checked it out, and I got some money back. As did you. Sounds like a great outcome to me, so enjoy your money and don't worry about it.

I don't understand why Stars will not reveal the identities of the cheaters. I think we deserve to know if the cheater was just slapped on the wrist and is actually still being allowed to play on the site or if he has been banned for good, etc etc.

I know it's an information war and Stars doesn't want to help the cheaters by giving away too much but as a consumer I think I should get to know.

Probably because people will search their hand histories going back several years to look for any previous contact with the cheaters, and when they find some, they'll demand more money from Stars. Opens up a big ol' can o' worms.

It took me a little while, but I found the email Stars sent me when I reported what seemed like obvious collusion in a $20 sit and go a few years ago. There were tons of hands that went like the following when there were 4 left, always balancing out the chips between the 2 players. I ended up finishing 4th, and I imagine the player who finished 5th got a letter indicating he/she would receive the 3rd place prize, but probably without the detailed player information.

A sample hand from that sit and go from years gone by can be found at the bottom ( I included about 9 examples when I reported it), and the email I got from Stars at the time after reporting my beliefs was the following:

Once again please let me take this opportunity to thank you for reporting this. I have now completed my review into these players. Having looked into their possible relationship and replayed a few tournaments that they had played in together I believed there was grounds for a more intense review.

This was one of the reasons that there has been a delay in getting back to you concerning this as both players were requested to explain some hands which had some questionable plays. On the back of their responses I completed my report and some other Poker Specialists looked it over.

We have come to the conclusion that there were some transgressions of our tournament rules - specifically rule 9 covering softplay and chip passing. As a result of this you have been advanced into second place in Tournament #13700990 and your account credited with $54.

Concerning the players involved. It is our opinion that their actions were
not necessarily malicious and there were not high play rates indicative of
malicious colluders. We have therefore decided to give them an additional
chance on the site but have stressed that any future infraction will result
in account closure and possible confiscation of funds. They have also been
placed in what we call a Related User Group which means that they will be
unable to sit at the same Ring Game or Sit and Go in future.

I trust that you find this course of action acceptable and please let me
know if you wish to discuss further.

My Best Regards,

Ed
