Since there are so many feedback threads, we are going to centralise them in one, so you can post you experience with Cake and if you would reconmend it for anyone thinking of joining.

I personally liked Cake a lot, it was easy to multitable (on racetrack view) and the games were quite soft. Rakeback is paid directly into your account and is tracked on the software (updated daily) so you know how much you have earnt and how many hands you have played. The only problem is the VIP system is awful, you basically get nothing out of the gold chips and can occasionally use the gold cards for a small return.

Post your experiences...

the games are absolutely nitty. i see the same people on the same tables everyday. no money is going in the pot, so rakeback doesn't earn crap. i've been playing there off and on for almost a 1 and 1/2 years. something that i have noticed and have always thought strange was i always seem to make my strong flops in the big blind in an unraised pot. in the last 3 weeks, half of my flopped strong hands have been while i was in the big blind in an unraised pot. im sure the math all adds up correctly when it comes to the rng but they aren't so random when it comes to calling 20 raises and not flopping crap, but flopping good hands 3 times in a row in the big blind in an unraised pot.

I do kind of agree with you that their are a lot of nitty regulars but i also think there is a much higher amount of blind fish, who wander in without a clue how to play and just donate. I also forgot how good the name changing thing is

* Players are slightly worse than you come across on stars for the same buyins

*The rake is slightly higher than you pay on stars

*The VIP system is a joke

*Cashouts take 1-2 weeks for paper check (and cost $50 with a minimum of $500 iirc)

*rakeback is paid monthly (same as Cereus, not weekly like ftp)

*The lobby has a pretty good filter (can add text to the filter to narrow down to the precise games you play)

*You can only register for 1 SNG type at a time. By this I mean if you want to play 4 tables of $32 6mans -- you can only register for the 2nd game after the first one fills & loads.

*You cannot use huds. No major trackers support cake so you have to rely on spreadsheets/sharkscope (CPST works for cash apparently, but its inconvenient for sngs)

*you can change your username weekly

*SNGs load about 10-25% as fast as Stars

*In the 6 months Ive been on cake, I haven't seen any reload bonuses offered

*The software is the most buggy of any site I've played (Stars, UB, AP, FTP). I've had the server crash while playing, tables fail to load, and a number of smaller glitches. Support has reimbursed entry fees when this happens

*Support is decently fast for minor problems -- a little slower for anything else (better than FTP/Cereus, worse than Stars).

*Support is pretty clueless when you report possible collusion. I have had to spell out why an obviously suspicious act/activity could be collusion -- checking the nuts in position on the river on the bubble, comes to mind -- but I've never received any collusion credits. For that matter, I've never received any sort of confirmation that an investigation was complete -- only the initial "forwarding this to security" email.

* They don't allow AHK scripts

Overall I still play there as a secondary site (I use it to add tables when other sites are slow and/or reg-filled)

I have a double charge from cake on my bank statement and I sent this email to them.

Quote:
Hello,

I recently deposited on your site. It appears my bank statement has been doubled charged for this deposit. here are the lines from my bank statement.

Can you please look into this for me.

Thanks,
-Eric
Less than 2 minutes later i got this email back.

Quote:
Hello Eric,

Thank you for your e-mail. We have just been in contact with our Credit Card Processor and have verified that the purchase you submitted was successful. Please note that before your Credit Card Issuer puts through a purchase transaction they will confirm that the client has enough funds on his/her credit card by placing a hold on the amount of the purchase. If the 'hold' is successfully placed then the purchase transaction is run through. In your case although your Credit Card Issuer was able to successfully place the hold, and though your transaction was successful the hold has yet to be removed.

Please be assured that the hold will be removed from your credit card within the next few days. While in the majority of such cases we see the hold removed within 72 hours we have seen it take as long as a week for the hold to be removed. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Kind Regards,

Randy

I don't know whether to be impressed that support contacted me so quickly or to lol at the improbability that they could call the credit card processor, find my information, and email me back in less than 2 minutes.

- I am a 50nl reg on cake
- Overall i love it, LOT of regs that are extremely nitty, and you can easily tell when your beat
- Also a lot of fish however, easy to take advantage of, just stay away from regs
- No reload bonus's =(
- RB is cool and you can track it right on the software, updates once a day
- Withdrawls are easy, paper check comes usually within week. First check of the month is free, every check thereafter for the month has a fee of $35
- Support is excellent in my experience.
- Probably the thing i hate the most is the VIP system is HORRIBLE. Shop is a joke, nothing else to spend your fpp's (coins) on. Every once in a blue moon they offer some SnG's and MTT's with fpp buyins for $$$
- Not an SnG player, but im pretty sure it takes awhile for SnG's to fill up, esspecially at higher stakes.
- Tournies are in my expierence very soft and easy to cash.

Or it could be something that they have to answer on a regular basis (if it was a hold and a separate charge)

That doesn't change teh fact that they said that had just been in contact with the payment processor.

Look I don't really care if they lied to me or not, as long as i get my money i'll be happy. it is still lollable

$20 and less i found that the 10 max sng's basicallly never ran amd the heads up and DON's would fill up very quickly. They also dont offer 6 max SNG's

This should be greatly improved with the next update of SharpStats (CPST's replacement). Also, Roy has stated publicly that HeM will be supporting Cake hand histories, for personal tracking only, sometime during the 1.9 beta cycle.

1) Tables tile in weird spots over my 2 monitors, instead of just one monitor. Would be nice to be able to tile 9 tables over 1 21 inch screen.

2) Needs an auto-rebuy to max.

1) Rakeback just got better: they don't deduct anything any more.

2) The bonuses just got worse: points are earned at half the previous rate.

cake poker is A+ and the best network i've ever played on once you figure in support + cashout time + rakeback + game selection. i don't play NLHE so i'm not really affected by the overall nittiness you people refer to nor do i really need a HUD.

hum... Ok... cake doesnt allowed any Huds or trakink software...

but what about AHK scripts like betpot? there is nothing on their website regarding that...

Traffic is limited in mid-high limit games. The player base at mid limits is similar to Stars and FTP. The value provided by the site is higher than FTP or Stars for my level of play ($3-5K MGR per month). The software is good, always improving, but the tile function doesn't work correctly.

This is not correct. HUDs are not allowed, but trackers that only track your personal stats ARE allowed.

I've read somewhere that Cake's security software cannot distinguish between AHK scripts and bot software, so you're running a risk using these (if any exist).
