Bovada on a Mac- Issues and Problem Solving Bovada on a Mac- Issues and Problem Solving

Okay so:

I have a Mac and am having the same issue that most of you are. A few days ago I was able to successfully run Bovada on parallels on my Mac, but now that no longer works.

I also tried on my friend's PC and that also doesn't work.

I'm getting the same SSL error in each case. This makes me think that it's possibly a security/firewall setting issue. So is anyone getting Bovada to work on any device?

Get a trial or something first, just in case. And if it works let us know.

I can confirm that it is working great for me on Windows 7 via Parallels. I'm on Yosemite.

Yea my parallels issue turned out to be because of bad certificates, there's actually instructions on Bovada's website if this ever happens to anyone. It works fine now.

The client works again!!! I did my bi-daily re-download and it updates and connects.

All I did was delete the old software and re-download it. It seems to work fine. I noticed that the executable has a new date, so it looks like they made some update to it.

Confirmed that uninstalling and reinstalling now fixes the handshake errors.

Just spoke to a Supervisor at Bovada and she says they have fixed the problem of the SSL handshake error. New version should be ready by 2:00 Eastern today. Uninstall the software and then reinstall it.

Make sure you back up your Hand History first. That is if you keep yours.

I made a copy of mine but can't find the file to put it back into the application. Maybe I have to download one first. Any one know?

SSL handshake error is gone but now says "This application BovadaPoker can't be opened."

Did you completely remove the program and then reinstall it?
I use a program called AppCleaner for removing programs. It deletes all the files.

Do you have your Mac set to not install 3rd party programs?

Nope - still no good. Says "You can't open the application BovadaPoker because it is not supported on this type of Mac."

Works for me. So awesome. Tried Carbon Poker during the interim and wasn't a fan. Fwiw I just hit Cmd+Del on the application and reinstalled. Running 10.10.1

Found this on Reddit for anyone having the same issue:

I can't promise what I did will work for you, but go to applications - terminal and double click.
Copy and paste this and hit enter:
cd /Applications/BovadaPoker.app/Contents/
Then copy and paste this and hit enter:
sudo chmod g+rx BovadaPoker
It will ask for your password (for your mac, not for Boavada).
This fix worked for me. All it's doing is adding read and execute permissions for the program. It's safe to try even if you're not sure what you're doing. As long as you copy and paste, I don't think it could mess anything up.
I don't know why the permissions weren't set to begin with. Could be something funky with the user groups on my system.

This in an easy fix. You have to go to Keychain access (most likely in your Utilities) and delete expired files related to Bovada (can find on their website). I was having this issue for days, did that, and it worked instantly.

Deleted Bovada completely with CleanMyMac and reinstalled it. It works but crashes way more often. Been losing money because it's crashing. Going back to Parallel for the mean time.

Currently running Bovada on Mavericks, and have the issue where it will crash, and then refuse to reopen unless I fully restart my computer--kind of makes HU SNGs unplayable. For reference, I haven't upgraded to Yosemite yet.

Does anyone with experience on this issue have any advice on how to resolve it?

I have this issue on my Macbook Air. Happened with Mavericks as well as Yosemite. It'll randomly crash and not reopen unless restarting.

Thanks for the response.

Insane that I can't play a card game on the internet in this country without so much trouble. Merge is awful and beginning to become untrustworthy. Bovada has this problem which frightens a HU SNG player like me to no end. WPN requires me to run Parallels...really?
