Wow, that sucks.

What has changed since last year to make them pull the plug now rather than when everybody else did? Have WPN pulled out of any other markets in the past?

If we lose WPN, then it's probably just a matter of time before Ignition withdraws from the Aussie market too. Then it truly will be the end of online poker in this country.

Probably a WPN lawyer's opinion. Or someone in government/law enforcement gave them reason to think they needed to change their stance.

I don't know about doing so in this fashion, but they don't serve all US states, so it's not like they ignore all legislation.

Not necessarily. Here in Canada, we've had a few instances of ewallets or poker sites pulling out, citing changes in legislation or some such nonsense, when absolutely nothing has changed. People got worried that it was the start of something big, and it never was. Just one business getting worried and pulling out.

Now, of course the situations are in no way analogous - Canada has no anti-poker legislation like Australia or the US does. My point is just that sometimes businesses make decisions like this seemingly based on nothing more than someone deciding the risk is no longer worth it. WPN's decision (if they've actually made an official one) could be a sign of trouble to come from other sites, but it also could be nothing more than an isolated case. Hopefully it's the latter.

Call me cynical, but does anyone else think that maybe they're letting Aussies play until the end of BOSS so it will help them get their guarantees?
It's very strange that they've suspended accounts with no money but allowing those with money to continue to play.

It's not that strange really. Although I couldn't say for sure, it looks like typical "grandfathering" of accounts to me. Something that almost all sites have done in the past/do whenever something similar happens legally speaking.

I'm currently (and I'm assuming there are a few others) in the same boat - would love to hear if anyone gets further news

I'm to scared to email support, don't want to remind them. Hopefully they leave it the way it is. They're not going to allow any new Aussies but leave the existing Aussies alone.

Would be nice if they made it official, the anxiety is unpleasant. I check my ACR email every morning and evening and always relieved when there is no email from ACR, I then log in to the client and once again relieved that I can log in.

Has anybody tried depositing recently?

I wouldn't be surprised if they're allowing people to play with whatever they have in their account and then close it if/when it reaches zero or the account lays dormant for long enough.

And probably at some point when we go to withdraw, we'll just be forced to withdraw everything at once.

They probably won't even send out emails to give us a warning about being locked out lol.

But hopefully the banning is done now and we can all continue playing for the forseeable future (probably not tho).

I'd think that would defeat the whole purpose of what they're doing.

Seems unlikely, but what did they say when you emailed them?

This was announced about the 25th of last month. I didn't hear about it until the 30th.

I actually I called them and the guy I spoke to at support knew my username straight away, must've got it from Caller ID.

I asked him about the Aussie Ban, he asked me how long I've been a member of the site (which I thought was strange) I told him since 2011. He said give me a moment.

Got back to me after a minute or so, and confirmed that they will be suspending all Aussies and that everyone will be contacted within a 3 to 4 weeks and advised me to withdraw any money asap. (Which I haven't done, and I'm glad I didn't because I can still play)

So we're still in that in that 3-4 week range.

Yeah im not so sure, i think 3-4 week range might just be what they want to tell the gov/authority. I sent a very simple email, with no reply. To me no reply means, we arent going to officially say you cant play but if you are playing we aint gonna tell you to stop. I can still go pokerking and download the client (worst skin) but BCP and ACR dont let you anymore.

If for whatever reason you need to install the ACR client (new computer, factory restore etc) pretty much screwed, unless you've kept the exe file which I haven't, and even then they probably go out of date and won't install anyway.

I know there are ways to get the exe file (VPN), but I've heard these sites are totally against VPNs and can detect if you're using one.

If you managed to get an exe file will it actually install or will it redirect somehow?

I reinstalled using the Exe file about a week ago and the Exe that I used I'd downloaded from them about a year or so ago.
