They do carry over.
Still it is a great idea to change your name frequently. It make it much harder to track you with a program.

The hand history will list you with the first four letters of your name than ****. So Pokergirl and PokerGuy both becomes Poke****. Any program using the hand history, I believe that is most of them, will merge both accounts and give misleading readings. Also trackers will not be able to read hand histories at all if both pokergirl and pokerguy are at the same table.

--> What you want to do is
1) Change your name every week.
2) Change it to agree with the first four letter of any other players name. Pick a player who plays the same game and stakes that you do but has an opposite style. The programer users will get a terrible read on you .

100% notes carry over. I have also used the method of first bit of info on EVERY note is the players ID. I have notes on some that have changed ID's 10+ times. Only new playes with NO notes on you are the ones who don't realize this.

Would you idiots please quit arguing whether notes carry over or not as if there is some kind of debate. Every Cake regular or semi serious player that ever took a note knows they carry over. There is no uncertainty here.

open the folder C:\Program Files\CakePoker\Notes

you will see 842429.note, 923878.note, 1022508.note, ..., (anynumber).note ...
that anynumber is playernumber on the cakenetwork.

Someone notes on you "David Sklansky",
and even if you change your nickname thosand times
he will see "David Sklansky" whenever you playing.

one more thing for those who are not aware..

you can use these note files when you playing other cake poker clients.
