32k scammed on Bodog ? 32k scammed on Bodog ?

Hey guys,

I'm in a pretty bad situation with Bodog. I created an account in june and deposit around 14.5k$ with btc, played and took my bankroll until 37k$ more or less. I cash out 5k$ in mid-august, everything was fine, and kept on playing.

On august 31th they cancel my account for "inconsistencies" without precising which ones. I try to contact them and 10 days later they ask to have a Skype with me to verify I'm a real person. I was lost in the mountain with a very poor internet connection to I ask to do it like 5 days later, and here begins their complete unprofessional and irrational behaviour :

- on the 12th of September I give several possibilities to organise the Skype, no answer
- on the 22th of September, new mail, no answer
- on the 22th of October, new mail, no answer
- on the 10th of November they FINALLY answer !! My account is definitely closed for inconsistencies I still don't know about them but they're gonna send my 32k back, ok !
- on the 30th of November : "Hello, sorry but we found out you're using a VPN and assume you're not the player you told us you were. We'll actually reimburse just de deposits, send us a BTC address to receive the corresponding 9.5k" : a 22k loss for me !
- December, 2nd : I tell them that they committed their-selves to fully reimburse me, and that the use of a VPN is not forbidden in their English Terms & conditions (but in the Spanish ones yes ... L-O-L)
- December, 9th : they copy/paste the same email they sent my on November 30th

I'm about to check is Askgamblers can do anything, do you know them ? Have you ever been in that situation ? What else can I do to get my bankroll back ?

Is it always the same thing with the customer support ? I've been playing poker for years and it's the first time I see such an unprofessional, slow, and inconsistent behaviour.

Thanks a lot

So the internet in the mountains was good enough for you to receive the email asking to speak to you via Skype?

Nope, I received it too late.

Why were you "lost in the mountains with bad internet " while dealing with a thirty two thousand dollar issue? What mountan was it? Where do you live?

Not even sure why you included that detail to begin with, something seems really fishy.

Also don't keep 32k on a shady unregulated poker site that you just signed up for without the expectation that Something like this could happen. Good luck getting your money back.

What country is your account registered in? What country did you play from?

If you made a legit account in a non-restricted country and then went to a restricted country and VPNed back in to your legit account to play, youre ****ed.

If you VPNed from a restricted country into a non-restricted country to create an account and play, youre ****ed.

If either of these two scenario's are true, I highly suggest you take your deposit back that they have offered and play elsewhere.

This is on you op...sounds like you had 2 accounts same table..other using a vpn. With that balance it was mid to high stakes. The inconsisties are folding when most wouldnt and raising each other. Dont worry where he lives etc. Next topic. You happen to find 2plus2 only after money taken

Yep, it sounds like you can play from any mountain, island, or cave. While you don't withdraw, Bodog is fine to accept your deposit and let you lose...

I have many stories of professional players getting their bankroll confiscated for bad reasons (or no reason at all).

What is the best solution then?
Is there any site, mediator, or lawyer addressing these situations?

Wow, didn't expect I would be the one suspected

Well, I'm a security freak so my VPN connects pretty much every time I go on internet, and as I told you, it's not even specified in the English ToS.

And I think it's not crazy to be on holidays at end of august / early sept and not having every single minute of my life a good internet connection. I actually asked them if they could do it a bit later, didn't hide.

I actually just wanted some advice about askgamblers, and/or feedback from people in the same situation than mine to see how they've worked it out.

You cant win...zero chance. They are judge and jury...plus there poker room is not currently licensed...plus you played games. Think its enough on topic.

I like to hike a lot and I quite often play on bodog. This is getting me worried.

I definitively would like a statement from bodog about their hiking / closing account + taking funds policy...

Half joking here, but clearly it sucks, gl getting your funds back OP.

Yep, ppl were warned on here a few years ago that the vpn'ers on this site would be caught and have their funds confiscated and accounts closed and rightfully so

Reading the OP's posts, his wording makes it seem like he is European. Words like holiday and precising are very British as well as the British spelling of behaviour and the use of $ behind the amount (14.5k$).

Why is this true? I'm not up on my international law. Why do you say this?

Mods plz move this to the "I got caught VPN'ing" thread, like the "Internet poker is rigged" thread, we have one of these a month or so now a days.

There is no “scam” here as you put it. You got caught playing on the site from a restricted zone and had your funds seized because of it. Bovada has always taken a strong stance on cheats and fraudsters, so why should they make an exception in this particular case?
