Have a bit over $100 on stars. Bout 1000 VPP away from $100 bonus.
Want strategy to a) accumulate VPP and b) make profit (in theory)

Have tried: SSS $5 at 25NL, 4-6 tables (Good for VPP, bad for profit)

Have tried: STT 8% of roll 1 table at a time. (Good for profit, bad for VPP)

Have tried: full buyin at 10NL 2-4 tables at a time. (Good for both, but one bad swing and I'm out of money)

SERIOUS Suggestions?

P.S. If you're going to post "go to casino, bet black until 5k, play 100NL" or "play $100 STT, win, and play 25NL" Then don't post at all.

You could try playing BSS NL2. There's a huge amount of donks, so it's pretty easy to multitable and keep a great winrate.
NL5 is still possibble if you're confortable with only 20 BI.

I'm a bigger fan of 25+ BI to multi table with. If $2NL is as beatable as you say it is I would prefer to 12-18 table, so I'd be comfortable with 25+ buyins.

Maybe I'll try to 2NL until $130-$140 and then $5NL from there.

Play whatever is best for profit. You'll get the hundo as long as you don't bust (assuming no time limit)

A 12 buyin roll for SNG is not very many tho but I suppose you are scaling it at least

The SNGs are very easy and very profitable but yes, I only make 10-20VPP a day.
Perhaps I'll try to SNG up to 150 or 200 and then I can play 5NL or 10NL for more VPP.

My bonus does actually expire in 6 weeks I believe

OK it's arithmetic time.
How many play hours do you have left? (approx is fine but be realistic)
You need to pay ~$180 in tourney rake so that's $30 a week. aka 60 $6.50 or 120 $3.25.
What hourly vpp rate do you get at cash?

I only play 1 at a time. They are turbo's so only last about 30-40 mins but I'd have to play them consecutively for 12 hours it looks like, and I'm a student. :S So it's safe to assume unless I rapidly increase my roll via SNG to $200-300 SNGs won't be able to clear my bonus.

That's why I'd like to incorporate both Ring games and STTs if I can. Maybe one for profit, one for VPP.

Can anyone come up with a system at my $100 Bankroll to accumulate profit & points? Assuming the following criteria:

1) Would like to spend up to 8% on STT playing one at a time. (assume I'm profitable)
2) Could log up to 30 hours a week playing.
3) Would like to stay away from 2NL if possible. Could be very profitable but virtually no VPP awarded.
4) If I have 25+ buyins, I can play up to 18 tables at once, unless a lot of attention is required.

Thanks for the help

you could play nl10 6 max, the players are horrible there, very easy money. You can buy-in for 5 bucks, so you have 20 buy-in for that. You get 0.04 VPP/hand at that level.

Do you have a 'usual' game and how badly do you beat it?
How far short are you if you play your bread and butter game for six weeks?
The bonus situation makes some games more attractive and some less. Personally I would aim to play for profit for as long as I could commensurate with getting the bonus profitably and go VPP-accumulating near the end. But not too near

NL10 is very easy but swings can be bad I've experienced. Over 3000-4000 hands (1-2 sessions) I can be down 4-6 buyins just by getting my money in good. It's dangerous with only 20 buyins that way.

I will prob try what you suggest sputum in that play profitably with my SNGs, try to build my roll a little and then start VPPing toward then end, prob 1-2 weeks from now leaving my self a month at NL10 grinding for finishing off my bonus.

Any other thoughts?

just play as many tables of 5NL with $5 as you're comfortable with (no timing out, you have time to make important decisions)

Why don't you try going to the casino, bet red until 5k, play 100NL

I realize that playing NL2 may not be as fun as playing NL10 or NL25, but if he can do 5k hands a day not only he will win quite some money, but he is gonna make 100 FTP's a day (+-5$ rakeback).
He will play with no fear of going broke because will have a lot of BI, so no "scare money" play.
Will in constantly, and build a bankroll comfortably.

I don't think it's a shame to grind NL2 if on doesn't have a big bankroll.
Just my 2 cents

Grind our Double or Nothings... Probably can play a lot and variance won't be too bad.

Those $3.25 6max turbo SNG are easy to 10table (stacked) and easy to beat imo. I got >3k VPP per month with $6.5 SNG, so I guess 1k VPP should be easy to clear within a month at the lower level. Maybe start with 6tabling to minimize variance and maximize profit at the beginning.

Thanks for the advice all, (except for casino advice).

Last couple of comments; I agree 2NL can be profitable, but I disagree with the 100 points a day. (Btw its VPP not FTP - stars not tilt) and I'm not getting rb. 2NL is therefore probably useless for me.

I may try the $3.25 6 max games. May start with 4 and work my way up.
May also try some 5NL and put in 1000 hands or so tonight.

Perhaps I'll post my progress, is there any interest in this?

Ok so after a couple hours:

put in a sesh of 1000 hands at 5NL. 12 tabled. Up about $3.
Not enough for a strong conclusion, but the way most of the key hands played out, it seems like it would be just a bit profitable in the long run.

Played 4 $3.25 6max SNGs. 2 wins, 1 2nd and one suckout so I think very profitable.

Ended the day increasing my starting roll by 10%

Congratz.

11.6+11.6+6.4+3-13=19.6

=> You've won 19.6% of your roll^^. Keep this pace, and forget the 5nl imo.

Or should I ask, where did the 10 bucks go?

FWIW 10-15% ROI should be ez going @ $3.25 SNG, but it might be pretty swingy.

Yea I didn't win 20% of my roll because I played a $6.5 9man and came third, played another and lost, so there's half a buyin.

I would forget the 5NL but I need a VPP buffer. I'm thinking even if I can break even at 5NL and put in 1000 hands a day after some SNGing, I'll be on my way to clearing the bonus in a couple weeks.

Another session today of 6 $3.25 6max games. picked up 1 win and three seconds for
>3buyins worth of profit.

Definately profitable, havn't put in some 5NL yet today.

Don't want to start multi tabling the $6.50 6 max games until at least $150 because one bad swing and my roll decreases by 20% so we'll see how things go.
