This is a gimmick account. I was "playing too good" at blackjack so I was banned from the property of Tampa Hard Rock and all others. They did not give me a reason. They just told me to gtfo and I couldn't come back or I would be arrested. I asked if I could still play poker they said no.

I'm not really sure what the best course of action is. I'm fine not playing blackjack but I would like to play a big tournament coming up in a few days there. Any advice on getting reinstated?

You were banned from all Hard Rock properties or all other Tampa/Fla casinos?

Assuming that you were banned for counting, it's a pretty difficult situation. You may be out of luck, because casinos take losing money very seriously. About the only thing you could do is respectfully request to be allowed to play poker. The best action might be to request to speak to casino management, and plead your case. Chances are bleak.

On the other hand, if it was a ban for some other form of cheating, or unacceptable behavior, you probably have no chance at all.

was just the Seminole Hard Rocks...think they said hollywood and imalokee or something too. It must have been for suspicion of counting as I don't know any other way to get an edge and was behaving fine

Well, one thing to be aware of is that casinos share information. Blackjack is going to be come difficult for you. No matter how this comes out, you may need to make a blackjack vs. poker decision for your future play.

I knew a guy who got banned from Mohegan Sun for scalping tickets to a show there. He wrote them a letter to apologize and I think he got un-banned a few months later.

I know a bunch of poker players used to count, like Andy Bloch. Is it standard to be banned from the whole casino? Why not flat bet me or ban me from the pit only I'm enough of a degen to still play slightly losing games

so you were counting. So you are out. What is the problem? Back in the day, many of my frat brothers counted. They were all caught. One of them is a CC officer now.

Things change, but not quickly.

You are usually only banned from playing blackjack. But if they kicked you out of the whole casino, you may want to consider getting an attorney who can negotiate with the casino to let you play poker. They might agree here because they won't want bad publicity.

In Las Vegas, I do know of a couple of people who were kicked out of the whole casino but were eventually allowed back in to just play poker. It would also help if the poker room manager would be on your side.

Best wishes,
mason

I had a friend banned from a casino for a non-gambling offense. (Nothing too funny or bad, was just hanging round some dumb kids doing dumb things.)
He wrote a letter and went up to secuirty both with letter in hand. They reviewed it, got back to him and he is allowed back in.

Situation is different, but bottom line is to take proactive role and cordial role.

I haven't kept track of the Florida-Seminole Compact process. An early version of it provided for some due process and fair play provisions for players that were not required under federal supervision and the Seminoles did not offer to players. If it has been concluded and those provisions remain, they may be of assistance. It may depend on their perception of why you were "playing too good" but my take on their Tampa poker room is that anything goes.

If you contact the casino manager or someone higher up in authority and plead your case you should be fine since I assume this is your first offense. If you've been kicked out in the past you might be out of luck. Good luck thoug

Just walk into the poker room if you want to play. Probably, they won't even recognize you there.

If you go to play blackjack that may raise a few flags, but you can put on a Groucho mask as a disguise, since nobody remembers Groucho anymore.

Don't do this.

When you get disqualified at the final table of your tournament, it might sour your day.

I was banned from fw for underage drinking. After turning 21 I wrote a letter of apology and was reinstated. Though card counting may be a bit tougher.

I think the key word that MM used is "eventually". You're not getting reinstated next week if you got banned from the whole casino area.

Wait a few months, then write to see if you can get reinstated for the poker room. I'd even offer to call security every time you walk in the casino so they can track you are just going to the poker room.

I feel like we are not getting the whole story here - certainly no details. If they didn't give a reason and you didn't ask, I have to believe you have an idea why they trespassed you. Since this is a gimmick account how about coming clean with a few details? What is "running good"? Were you drinking? Did they make you sign anything? Did you give any ID or Player's Card that would give them your name?

Going back without clearing up the situation is probably a VERY bad idea.

well I was attempting to count, but I am definitely no expert as I get confused from time to time. if I'm not sure if it's +1 or +2 for example I play it safe and go to +1. I'm sure I showed some suspicious patterns..only taking insurance when betting big for example

behavior wise if anything I was behaving too well...not talking to others enough. I've heard this is a red flag so I'll try to work on it. I was drinking though which I was hoping took some heat off but guess not. Also I made the mistake of camping out too long at one table so they could watch me too easily

but I do have good news! I called them and they told me it was just a 24 hour ejection. They still did not give me a reason they just said it was a business decision. I will wait till the big thursday tourney before attempting to play blackjack again for sure. Should I run it by security first when I get there to make sure I don't get kicked out mid session?

Well that is good news indeed.

Sounds like you handled yourself in a calm & professional manner which resulted in keeping the impact minor and short.

Congrats & good luck!

As far as checking in at Security: did you happen to catch the name of the person with whom you spoke? It might not be a bad idea to at least pull the Floor aside when you return and let them know you did call Security and confirm that you'd been given a 24 hour ban which was now expired and you just wanted them to know about it up front to avoid any drama.

This is an incredibly bad idea. If the OP does this then wins a significant sum of money, he will have to show them a valid ID. They can then DQ him and split his winings with teh rest of the players who cashed since he was legally barred from the casinos.

If he is recognized, very possible cameras are everywhere, then he can be DQ'd immediately and possibly lose his buy in.

****************

Richard Brodie who is probably best known for being the programer who created "Microsoft Word" and a poker player was banned from Harrah's a couple of years ago.

He received a certified letter from Harah's explaining they could not figure out how to make a profit off of his play so they no longer wished to have him in their casino's.

he was somewhat shocked by this because all he plays is eitehr poker or Video Poker. He had a run of very good luck hitting 4 Royal's in the same year at HET casinos. A royal in VP pays out 4000 units of whatever you are playing. Richard plays $5 units so his wins are worth $20,000 each.

This is why he was banned from HET casinos.

he managed to get allowed back in for live poker only and you have likely seen him on TV during WSOP broadcasts.

Just remember that you are done counting at this casino so you might not want to play blackjack. You have a shot at counting other places if you were just booted as suspected and not confirmed. But if you count here again GL playing anywhere other than the tiniest of mini casinos.
