How do you figure? Most pros on TV do not wear sunglasses. Actually as a % of players I would guess that more recs wear sunglasses than pros.

If you look at older coverage, many pro players wore sunglasses. Your statement may be true nowadays (not conceding the point, but I'm not saying you're wrong either), but there's a reason all those recs started doing it in the first place.

It's because of Fedor. He started the trend. He's GOAT so everyone copied him, it's to hide tells.

Not sure if serious. You are either the most annoying poker player who ever lived or an excellent satirist.

I agree more recs wear sunglasses than pros, but the reason recs wear them is to look like the pros they saw wearing them.

if you ask a 1/2 player why they wear sunglasses, they won't be able to tell you. If they do say it's to hide tells, ask them what tells specifically? Do your eyes pop out of your head when you have a big hand?

Same with hoodies. Because they saw Phil Laak wear one on TV.

As a man that wears a hoody and tshirt nearly every day in regular life, it saddens me that when I go to the casino I have to change my outfit to not look like some sort of reg grinder.

When I moved out here I interviewed in a shirt and tie. I got the job, but then was told to never wear anything like that every again.

I think you need to be aware of the norms of your environment. I work at a large company where it's not uncommon to see senior directors or VPs in hoodies or the rough equivalent.

This is very different than the east coast. Try not to be so judgmental.

Absolutely!

Modern companies tend to foster a more non-judgmental attitude. It's about doing the work well, and being professional about it. In most roles in my company, a tshirt and hoody won't impact that. And I would argue that fitting in with a tshirt and hoody (not to beat this to death, though I guess it's too late) is way better than looking like an idiot as the one guy in a 100 person organization wearing a shirt and tie.

Wait a second... my boss is on vacation... are you my boss... I knew he played poker, but he's pretty terrible. I doubt he'd be hanging out here.

I don't think I've ever seen someone at a slot machine, table game or craps table wearing a hoodie over their head

They smoke to keep warm, casinos are legit cold especially the WSOP pavilion and Caesars poker room.

i think in general the older crowd is dying off. hopefully that "professional look" dies with them like ive never worn a tie/button shirt or slacks in my life and im 28.

fashion is just changing more to the point where comfort and mental health absolutely trumps "style" or being forced to wear button shirts with a tight belt and slacks. lmao

i think id love the west coast

I used to wear sunglasses to cover my bloodshot eyes due to mary jane sessions. Ran out of contacts so took some time away from the shades..now I'm comfortable at my local room and know everyone (and know that nearly everyone else smokes as well) that now I just rock a pair a prescription glasses.

as far as hoodies, I never have the hood up and primarily wear one to cover my man boobs.

Personal qualities should always be above presentation. You don't dress for yourself, you dress as a sign of respect to your surroundings. First of all it is to cover up your butt and hairy back and then the higher up you go the more pleasing it is to look at. The same goes for showering, not having excess nose hair and cutting your hair to a length where insects don't nestle inside it.

If there is a trend in dressing down then it's because of society is becoming more self centered. Also don't be mistaken how many people secretly think you look like a homeless person when you go to work in shorts and a hoodie.

no one under 40 would think that fwiw, yes it is a trend. putting health/wellbeing/comfort above all else, as opposed to societal norms.

but yeah maybe my dad or uncle would think that, they both almost 60.

as i said, they must die out. i think in 10 years it will be totally normal to have casual wear even as an executive at a company established past 2000 and no one would bat an eye.
