lolz. ubless you are joking, paying rake is not gonna be your main problem moving forward if you play for a living. even 10% to $10 is zero rake if pots dont exist.

double lolz and mostly because it is so true.
Any 4 max poker game will be a time charge. Possibly a few high end rooms may run a few higher limit games.

not sure about that. casinos will make a lot more by it being a raked game.they're not gonna spready games to make 20-40 bucks an hour before expenses.

8-10 per half hour at a 5-10+ NL game would seem reasonable for shorthanded play. We won't see 1/2 anytime soon.

I don't think many 1/2nl or 2/5 nl players are Going to show up to play 4 handed tables regardless of how rake is collected. But if they tried to go to time rake for those games, esp 1/2, then no one would play. That level of rec player just doesnt "get" the pros and cons of time rake, and instead usually resist they idea of paying rake if they dont win a pot or dont stay the entire half hour. Its almost like a cultural difference from higher limit players.

And I dont think any room will open if the only people they can attract are 5/10 nl players. Even pre virus times, the busiest and biggest room in the Tampa area, for example, only had 1 5/10 nl game going most days.

I never thought I would defend high casino rake, but asking them to charge the same in a 4max (or 5max) game as they did for 9 handed, that doesn’t sound like a reasonable expectation to me. That would cut their revenue in half.

Meeting somewhere in the middle like $15 per down at a place that previously charged $10 seems reasonable to me.

From an article on Borgata (owned by MGM so it may be company wide)

"Poker rooms may not reopen when the rest of the casino does, depending on guidance from state officials and medical experts."

Yeah, I am thinking more Bellagio / Venetian and other high end Vegas rooms.

I think that cruise ship rake rates are probably the reasonable expectation IMHO... and do people play and pay it? yes.

I searched but probably didn't put in the correct terms as this has already been discussed. Will brick and morter casinos be going to a video hand display at each playing position? No touching each others cards. I've heard that the resteraunts are considering a no printed menu policy.

Thank you;

Sherman

This is the opportunity of a lifetime for the manufacturers of e-poker tables to get their products into casinos. They can have social distancing, eliminate labor and probably even reduce the rake with these. Right now casinos have $0 revenue from their poker rooms which are taking up valuable space. A casino in AZ opened up and was pretty packed but their 25 table poker room was closed.

If you’re gonna play “live poker” in a casino with an electronic poker table you may as well just play online at home. It’s still using an RNG

But with this new normal coming in. And more than 46 states not having access to online poker this is still better than nothing for areas that have no ability to create online rooms.

Yeah exactly like online minus the multi accounting, obvious collusion, bots and seating scripts. You think rng is the problem online? This is the reason electronic tables suck:because super fish stay away. These are the same people who cry that they always lose with kings or always get their aces cracked

I’m in one of the 46 states and I play online. And if you use ignition the tables don’t have player names so you can’t be tracked with a hud day to day

Geez, in a thread about live poker half the posts are still about online poker. For someone that never has and never will play online, I'm really tired of this ****.

If live poker is dead after this, then that's it. I'm not playing online. I go to a casino to have fun, meet people and get out of the house for a while. Like 90% of other live 1/3 and 2/5 poker regs, I don't give a **** about the rake and I don't play to win.

I have never really understood the complaints about RNG's. I get (and sometimes agree) that online poker can feel rigged, but I doubt seriously that it is. But I never understood how a psuedo random RNG could actually present exploitable patterns in the game.

So freaking what!! A auto shuffler does also. Use of a RNG is not why live and online are different. Things like huds, multitabling, solvers, etc are some of the diffs.

Etables are not even similar to online play but the game is quite similar to classic live games

But you still face bots, solvers, etc. even in those four states allowing online and even playing ignition, online is completely different from etables.

Can people give trip reports, for LIVE in person poker (nothing to do with online) ?

6 handed or 4?

Masks need to be worn or not?

How the set was(spacing between players and tables amongst the room)?

How was action?

What is the general feel of that room?

This is what people want to know amongst others...

I think Jax bestbet is opening this week. I am sure any rooms will be reduced in some fashion to start. If they are not great, but I just can't see anything fully open to start.

I also think Daytona & Orange City open this week...

South Florida, will go through same stages on a later timeline I would imagine....initially I would be eager to Hear about:

the Daytona & Orange City games?

Jax bestbet Games?

Tampa Area games?

Would like to hear trip reports...how was it? How many were they playing with? Capacity of the room and each game? Masks/no masks? How is the action? What were people's impressions?

Thanks in advance
