I’m not so worried about rec players getting smashed. Most of their styles (high vpip) are better suited for short handed play, and they likely lose less per hand 6/7 handed. It will be the break-even omc rocks that see a substantial decrease in winnrate as they can’t just best hand fish. Not sure games can sustain without the break even players propping them, but if they run they’ll be good.

How does your online 6max play tell you how to handle games where you can't 3bet iso effectively and many pots are four to the flop?

Conversely, there are also many pots where you can 3bet iso effectively in a 6 max game that leads to heads up in a 3bet pot than in a full ring game.

Anyone hearing any speculation on rolling back some of the games, escalating protective measures, or even shutting rooms or casino's back down given the resurgence (is it a resurgence if the virus never really abated? I guess it could be a continued surgence) of Covid? Texas just shut down bars, move restaurants back to 50%, and allowed the counties to require masks.

I think the Casinos that are requiring masks, have plexiglass, temperature checks etc will try to ride this out. Other Casinos may be forced to up their safety game or risk a close down. Hot spot States like AZ, Texas, California and Florida are taking steps to reverse course. If Casinos can survive the next month they will be alright.

California casinos are shut down again, I wonder if that encourages a couple players to travel to LV for the weekend.

Anyone think we have a chance for tournaments to be back by say January-March next year? At the moment, I’m super pessimistic about live poker coming back anytime soon but hoping it does.

not surprising.

I'm actually quite shocked that places re-opened so quickly. Did they think covid just went away?

Saskatchewan is opening casinos July 9. Slots only, no tablet games (including poker). No timeline for their return yet.

called a couple AC casinos: Trop, Bally's, Harrah's.. they're all clueless. I believe Bally's said there is no tentative reopening date yet. Could just be clueless front desk, I'd much rather speak to the floor but obviously there is no floor bc no poker rooms

However, I did get in contact with the TD at Borgata and he didn't sound optimistic at all. This was even before Borgata decided to remain closed as a result of indoor dining being paused. After that decision, he contacted me and seemed even more pessimistic. Seems like AC poker won't be happening for atleast a few more weeks

It's just a sad time in poker that we will have to overcome. However, when a vaccine becomes available, it's 2007 poker boom all over again to print money. Crossing my fingers anyways.

What's the rationale behind a boom?

My hope and theory is that all of the people that have been bottling up their urge to gamble and play poker will come in droves to the casinos even if it's short lived. It may be just a dream but I'm trying to be positive about it for my own sanity.

Live poker is dead for the foreseeable future. It's been dying for a while but this is what's going to kill it. Big fish hate playing.short.
